Better than a Lot of the Others...

There are obviously a lot of places to rent here in Norfolk and probably 70 percent of the people who will read this are in the military. I was in the same situation a few months ago, had to move with a months notice and without being able to check out any places before putting down a security deposit so we'd have a place to live. My husband is stationed in Norfolk but I couldn't find one decent place there because of the safety concerns I have.
I feel safe walking my dog here when he feels the need to go out at 1 AM. And as for the review where the person had their car broken into... That can and does happen anywhere where there are teenagers living, it's just something that happens sometimes, and it would probably happen a whole lot less if you didn't leave things like gps sitting in your car...
Speaking of cars... I am really happy with the parking here. We have one assigned spot which is quite close to our apartment and extra parking is very easy to find. We usually get spots just as close as our assigned spot.
When we first moved in we needed two minor things replaced (the security chain on the front door and the thermostat panel because it was hard to read). They were very polite and helpful and we had the problems fixed within about two days. When we had a more urgent problem (the tub wouldn't drain) they were out within a couple of hours and problem solved politely and professionally. Those are the only problems we've had which I think are quite small. I never dread dealing with the management which is awesome.
The animal fee is not ridiculous like some places but I do reccomend paying the 400 dollars when you sign your lease as opposed to the 200 and then 20 a month. Even if you only live there a year you save money... And if you do have a dog the lake is a great place to walk assuming your dog isn't afraid of ducks... Haha, mine was at first, now he doesn't even notice them...
The apartment itself is in good shape and the only thing we changed was the showerhead because the one they give you is quite small and I prefer a larger rain style head... Personal preference though... I do wish they had ceiling fans, mostly because I'm used to the sound when I'm sleeping, but obviously it is something I can live without.
Now, about the bugs... You do have to accept that while living in the south you will have to "deal" with the bug issue, but that does not mean that you have to "live" with them. It is even more of a problem when you're going in and out a lot with kids or pets... When we first moved in we got some roaches, I wasn't surprised since we had moved from South Carolina where they are all over... But if you're from some places in the north like I originally am you do have to prepare yourself. If you take initiative and fix the problem bugs shouldn't give you any trouble. I reccomend buying an outdoor/indoor bug spray that you do along all of the outside of the house and around the doors inside the house. Also buy traps for the kitchen, bathroom and anywhere else you see them... After just a couple of days the only roaches you'll see are dead ones, which you'll be quite thankful for because when they're alive they can be fast and hard to kill...
The area around my apartment is always very quiet except maybe if they girls across the way are playing in the yard and I have my back door open... But who can complain about that' Other than that there is rarely loud music from cars or neighbors and no big parties that I have come across.
Overall I believe we got very lucky with these apartments and I am happy with living here. I would reccomend these apartments to just about any young couple with two or fewer kids, after two I can imagine it getting a bit cramped...
I hope I was helpful... lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji
