Well, I am sure there are worse places to live. Like living directly in the path of a safari. Maybe it was the terrible insulation at work. Or maybe I really did live underneath a flock of 30 elephants. Wow. Seriously, I am not making this up when I say that twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week I was treated to the constant "STOMP STOMP STOOOOMMMPPP BOOM BOOM SCREAM SCREAM" of a billion domestic disputes pounding against my ceiling. Little white crusties trinkle from above. Like SNOW. And, in late July, it was for sure not snowing in Virginia. Of course, management would wash their hands of any responsibility when I'd complain. In fact, sometimes, they made my noisy neghbors out to be MY fault. Lovely.

And what Longhill Grove review is complete without mentioning the beautiful carpet, that for some strange reason attracts big and lovely black stains by just looking at it wrong. When trying to remove said marks, up came the threads, shedding their fuzz like a dog coat in the summer. Ugh.

One very spiffy thing I should point out is how they'd always put notices on your door about various issues, urging you to take action or move your vehicle or some other crap. They'd never get around to the point of their notices, delaying it for months until you'd forgotten about it. And then they'd finally get off their lazy butts, and do it, and you'd catch all kinds of flak in the process because, apparently, at Longhill Grove, notification is a courtesy ONLY, and it is the responsibility of tenants to predict when the management is finally going to get off their lazy butts and do something! How lovely! And what a way to treat your residents! Mmmmm.

Speaking of management, Earlene and Michelle are about the rudest, least approachable complex managers I've ever encountered. Michelle comes off as extremely rude, sassy, and condescending toward both current tenants and prospective applicants, and Earlene is utterly lacking in tact of any kind whatsoever. During vists to the leasing offce, I was routinely made to feel as though I was imposing on the staff, and that my issues, whatever they may have been, were not important. With the exception of the administrative assistant, the office staff was always a pain to deal with.

I should also point out that if you like your privacy, THIS is the place for you. The maintenance people will NEVER bother you! In fact, you should probably beware if maintenance DOES actually show up at your door with a service request in hand - it probably is meant for another apartment. AND - your neighbors will probably only keep their music blaring, punch each other in the face, and loiter in the parking lot until three in the morning. How considerate.

Hmm, what can I say good about Longhill Grove - sometimes there were parking spots available in the abysmally undersized parking areas. The pool didn't ALWAYS have fecal material or garbage floating in it! Umm...the leasing office always had really good candy (though I never ate it seeing as how it would probably be 80 years old like the rest of the complex is).

Upon moving in, the hall bathroom sink had half the paint rubbing off, there were splashes of paint on the rug and smudges on the walls, tile was stained, the closet doors had their knobs hanging off, there were dead insects on the floor, the walls had shoddy patchwork applied throughout, no fire extinguisher was present (the absence of which they blamed on me when I inquired about it), etc, etc, etc. Worst condition I could imagine a "clean" apartment to be in.

Also, I forgot to mention how incompetent the mail delivery service was. Wonderful thing to routinely open your mailbox and find little pieces of mail in it that aren't even YOURS. Tony, sorry about your eviction notice, by the way, Sucks to be you.

One great thing I can say about Longhill Grove is that it backs up to some of the worst government project housing I've ever seen, so there's always an episode of 'COPS' unfolding in real time right outside your balcony if you ever get bored! The standoff at gunpoint last week was real entertaining. Can't wait for this week's installment.

The bottom line: don't live here. You will be upset. The best thing it has going for it is that it's located within walking distance of the bus stop. And honestly, I'd rather live there than live at Longhill Grove again.

I agree, the staff here is the worst and the neighbors are worse yet. Don't stay here.
