I lived here for three years, and I don't know where to begin in begging you not to move here. I guess I'd have to start with the fact that your air conditioner will NEVER work. I had the office send someone to fix it about a thousand times - each time, it would work for two days, then sputter out again. And when the A/C doesn't work, my 3rd floor apartment would get up to about 100 degrees (not an exaggeration). And if you have a neighbor who smokes living below you, you might as well start smoking too because your apartment is going to smell as bad as theirs; the shoddy construction lets in smoke, noise, insects, etc. like you have no walls or floor at all.
But constant discomfort isn't going to be the worst of your problems. What the management didn't tell me when I moved in was that the complex is actually a halfway house for psychiatric ward parolees (now I'm exaggerating). I had a family living next to me that screamed at their children until midnight every day while their dog howled (I saw them hit it a couple of times). Once I even had to go over there to tell them to stop banging on the wall at 2:30 in the morning (they claimed they were cleaning their air filter). Below me lived a smoking immigrant family that played horrible techno music until midnight at full volume. Don't bother complaining; I don't really think the management is too concerned about the noise as long as everyone is paying the rent.
Bottom line - they make the place look nice and spacious so that you'll want to move in. But in reality, it is an unbearable hell that I don't ever want to return to. Live in a carboard box instead if you have to - it may be the same temperature, but it will be less noisy, cleaner, and better constructed.
