I lived here for a year and a half and was overall pretty satisfied. I shared a three bedroom apartment with two roommates while in school. The master bedroom is nicely sized, but the other two bedrooms are very small. They were really good about spraying for roaches every so many weeks, but the roaches were still a problem. Noise was an issue when we first moved in- there was a family that lived below us and the father would yell at the children almost every night when I was trying to get some sleep- but once they moved out, it was much better. On the first night we slept there, we were awakened by a Mexican dude knocking on our door relentlessly for about ten minutes. We were about to call the cops but he finally left and we never saw him again. I guess he was looking for the previous tenants, but it was still scary. Also, my friend's jeep was stolen from the parking lot one night and totally destroyed. The cops found it later in a nearby trailer park, covered in mud. The AC didn't work very well when it got really hot out. For about a week or two, we had to deal with the temperature being over 90 degrees before maintenance finally got around to fixing it. They said a lot of people were having the same problem and they were going in order of first come, first serve, which is okay, but the fact that so many other people were having issues with their AC was pretty bad. Parking for our building was an issue at night when everyone was home, but there was always extra parking in front of other buildings and on the street. Some people were too lazy to park on the street and would create their own parking spots in the parking lot, making it very difficult for those who were parked in legit spots to back out. Those issues aside, I was satisfied with the place. It was cheap and there was a high turnover rate so more often than not, we were surrounded by vacant apartments. The rental staff was friendly enough, although I witnessed them being very unfriendly with another tenant who apparently had her boyfriend living with her without signing him on the lease. After I left the place, I looked up the sexual predator registry and found a number of people registered were residents of Orchardcrest. Not sure how many still live there, but that might be something you'd want to check out before moving in! The laundry rooms have hard hours to accommodate, and my roommates and I often got frustrated with the dryers not fully drying our clothes, but it was better than having to go to a laundromat. Despite all the things I brought up, I was overall satisfied with the place and I actually would recommend it to someone looking for a cheap, short-term place to live.
