I've been living at The Apartments at Riverside Station since the beginning of March and I am very happy that I moved here.
As a young single guy, I moved to NoVA from Norfolk/Virginia Beach in April of last year when I accepted a civilian position working for the Marine Corps at Quantico.
I moved into an apartment complex in Fredericksburg off of Route 17. It was a great place in a good neighborhood but the commute in the afternoons from Quantico to Fredericksburg on 95 south was absolutely horrendous. Not to mention the traffic on Route 17 which was also ridiculous. I had to get out.
In October of last year I took a look at this complex and reserved the medium sized one bedroom. I also became a victim of the dreaded construction delays. My apartment was to be ready in March, however, in February I was informed that it had been pushed back to the middle of April. I had already given notice to my old complex that I would be out by March 31st. Rather than worry about hotels and storage facilities I just decided to upgrade to the larger one bedroom in one of the buildings that was completed in March. Even though the rent for the large one bedroom is pretty steep, I am happy with the decision I made. This unit offers more cabinet space in the kitchen and a better view from the balcony. Overall, the floorplan is much better.
As for the apartments themselves...you could certainly use the old saying "They don't build them like they used to." When you walk into an empty unit you can pick out numerous flaws. However, these are still BRAND NEW apartments so overall I am happy with mine.
The walls and ceilings are fairly thin. My first week here the gentleman above me made a lot of noise, however I think that was due to the fact that he was moving furniture into his apartment. Since then the noise has not been that bad. Every now and then you can hear someone's stereo blasting, however as a single guy I don't let that kind of stuff bother me too much.
This complex is located in a pretty nice neighborhood. I definitely feel safe around here. In the afternoons on a nice day its common to see people jogging or walking their dogs along the sidewalks on the surrounding streets.
This place is really starting to come together. The parking lot was recently paved. There are now signs welcoming visitors and residents. Construction has begun on the entrance gate. Also, the pool and clubhouse just opened. I took a tour of the clubhouse last weekend and there are a couple of party rooms (one of them will have a 70 inch big screen) along with a billiard room and men's and women's locker rooms complete with showers and restrooms. I was especially impressed with the fitness room which includes a couple treadmills and can you believe they actually have free weights!
The number one reason why I love this place is its location. I strongly recommend this complex to anyone who is employed at the Quantico Marine Corps Base. Being able to travel against the flow of traffic in the mornings and afternoons is just great. It is only a 12 minute commute from the parking lot here to the main gate. I also attend graduate classes at George Mason University which is only a 30 minute drive. Downtown DC is only a 30 minute drive away. You can get to the Springfield metro station in about 15-20 minutes. And of course the VRE Rippon station is only a short walk away. I feel comfortable knowing that if I ever have to attend a conference in DC, that I don't even have to get in my car to get there.
Overall, my experience here has been great so far. The Apartments at Riverside Station is extremely expensive compared to all the other apartment complexes in the Woodbridge area, however I think it is well worth it.

Just to clarify some things in my review. Downtown DC being 30 minutes away and Springfield being 15-20 minutes away. I was referring to weekend activities. Of course those times are not accurate for morning and afternoon weekday rush hours. Also one thing I forgot to mention is that I do wish this complex had some basketball and tennis courts in addition to the wonderful clubhouse and pool.

Unfortunately, for a single female the environment does not feel so face, that you can really appreciate the outdoor activities. I am going to have to check out the club facilities though.
