I'm a single male who lived in a 2nd floor 1 bedroom apt in the "newer" section close to Minniville road for 1 1/2 years. It was my first time living on my own so I can't really compare this complex to any other but here are a few observations from my time there.

The walls and ceilings were very thin in the older but newly renovated building I occupied. Having toured the vacant units before moving in, during the quiet mid-day hours, I could not truly appreciate or anticipate what a headache this would be. Every footstep of the tenants above me was heard. I never would have signed the lease had I known what a problem this was. So I can't recommend anything but a top floor unit. And if you are lucky enough to occupy a top floor unit please be courtious of the neighbors below you. These apartments aren't the place to be blasting music and stomping around. Besides the thin walls, my unit had freshly installed carpet and new paint on the walls.

The rent was cheap to start but does go up anually and if you choose to not sign another years lease, and the rent to live month to month will be even more.

The area around my building was fairly quiet and I never noticed any drug activity or loitering at the building entrances.
Maintenance issues were always handled in a timely manner.

Do yourself a favor and if at all possible buy a condo or townhouse. Renting is a waste of money.

I would agree. Drug activity is creeping up but pretty low for such a low rent community. Walls are paper thin and we were lucky enough to have a few drug dealers move in below. Of coarse they blast music, get into fights about guns and drugs, and best of all have really loud sex at about 4 am when I am trying to sleep before work. I have told the rental office and they have told me to call the police. Calling the police on drug dealers with possible gang relations doesn't sound appealing. So if you are single and looking for something short term then this is the place. If you have kids then look elsewhere

HAHAH I hear the same thing ambienta. I hear loud sex, kids running aorund at 1am on a school night. I haven't seen any drug activity but i do know that some people have gotten their cars broken into includign my boyfriend. They really need some security here.
