Not bad for the price

There are very few places you can rent a 2 bdrm/2bath apartment in NoVa, including an in-unit washer/dryer and most utilities (except electric/phone), for less than $1,000/month. But you can (for the moment) here. However, there is a rent increase every year ($50/mon or more).

Unlike many of the other reviewers, my car has never been broken into, I've had no problems with roaches, and I've never noticed any drug activity.

However, the walls and floors are thin and you can hear the neighbors easily. I've never been able to make out conversations, like some of the reviewers, but music and TV come through loud and clear. Sound carries in these apartments and the floors are really squeaky.

My apartment faces the main road into the complex and drivers like to gun it up and down that street, even at night. Very annoying. I wish there were speed bumps throughout the complex.

Getting anything delivered in the complex is difficult. Several buildings on different streets have the same building number, so delivery people often go to the wrong building. I had the police banging on my door a couple of times at 2AM because someone in the same building/apt number on a different street called 911!

Up until recently, I would have said that maintenance was fine. Everything was always fixed within two days... until my A/C broke down over a holiday weekend. Took almost a week to get it fixed. Apparently, they don't consider A/C repair to be an emergency, even if it is in the upper 90's. I was told that if I had a note from my doctor explaining that I needed A/C for health reasons it would have been considered an emergency repair. Fine time to tell me, AFTER the A/C breaks down on a holiday weekend. I've had a couple of appliances replaced, which went fine. The maintenance staff do tend to leave a mess behind. Especially whoever comes to fix the drywall or popped nails/cracks in the ceiling... dust everywhere! I've also received some notes from the maintenance staff that read like they think they're dealing with a five year old. Very insulting.

I've never had a problem with the office staff, but it is difficult to get hold of the manager(s). In fact, I don't think I've ever spoken with them.

When my lease is up, I'm planning to ask about fixing some problems with kitchen tile and painting. If anyone has any experience getting management to fix those items, please respond.
