The entire comples is infested with silverfish. Though I have not seen a roach, other tenants say they have them. It is only a matter of time before I will have roaches too. There are silverfish on the ceilings, walls, all over. My walls are covered with dead bugs.
I call frequently about the bugs, and the next time I have to, I will also call the housing authority and board of health. People should not have to live with infestation. If they can't get rid of the bugs, then it is time to tear the complex down.
Management does nothing about lease violators, people do major car repair and wash card in the parking lots, on weekends there are parties all the time, broken bottles, trash all over. Tenants are permitted to tie open doors, and do whatever they want. I think management is actually afraid of some of these tenants, I know I am.
Do not move into an apartment you have not seen. Don't just see the model one they show you, insist on seeing the apartment you will rent. Also insist on seeing the lease before hand. You will read that there is no television permitted between midnight and 8 a.m. ! Yes, that's right.
I wanted to move out a few days into the following month after my lease runs out. They refuse to prorate the rent. I have to pay the entire month's rent. Funny when I moved in, they were willing to prorate the rent by days. I feel I am being held hostage by Dale Forest. Three apartments I have looked at, none will be ready at the end of the month, so I either pay over $2300. in rent at two apartments, or I remain in an infested apartment being held hostage.
I don't want to live here for the rest of my life !
And you will not receive your security deposit back. No one ever ever has. And 100% of the former tenants all state they have received invoices for cleaning your apartment.
Pay more money to rent a decent place. This place is one step away from being a ghetto.

My negative review of this complex is listed, but, to be fair, though I'm sure that some folks have more bugs than others, I never heard of anyone having dead bugs all over the wall! And, trust me, I've lived in much worse, and nobody ever considered tearing the place down because of insects! Yes, folks wash their cars and do minor car repairs (that's pretty much universal), but I've never seen the scattered debris that is mentioned, above. Tenants will only tie doors open when they need to move in or out, though, granted, they may forget to untie the doors afterward (why in the world the maintenance staff doesn't take care of it is beyond me, unless they are under the impression that someone may be using it; but, after a number of days, you'd think someone would realize that it needs to be removed).
As for the "model", unless changes have been made in the years since I left Dale Forest, there was no "model", so, respectfully, I have no idea what the author is talking about. As a matter of fact, when I first visited the complex, and gave them a copy of my license (for security purposes), they practically threw keys to any apt in any building I wanted (one at a time, of course!).
And, yes, they do not prorate rent (I had to pay 2 months worth for breaking the lease due to moving out-of-State; remember the days when landlords would have such a rider in the lease; those days are pretty much gone, unless you can prove hardship or are military), and I did have to pay a fee for forgetting to machine wash the carpetting and for accidentally leaving food in the fridge, but I got 100% of my security back within a month, so, again, unless the terms of the lease changed, I don't know to what the author is referring.
Disagreements aside, Dale Forest looks nice, but will someday become a gang-infested ghetto; it is definitely NOT a nice place for decent people, so, by all means, stay away! (we agree on that, at least!)

To skaizun:
Yes, they do demolish buildings that are so infested, nothing can be done. Syracuse University had its student union and one dormitory demolish due to roaches. (Late 70's early 80's) They did not rebuild they sold off the land.
Everyone I have spoken to was shown the model, no one saw anything other apartment, so I question your credibility.
Last night at 7:30 p.m., I watched two separate drug deals go down, while I was pulling in and getting out of my car. Drug dealing is a major industry here, possibly the management gets a split.
The dead bugs on the wall, are due to having been killed and their bodies all over the walls. I spend an hour to two (that's all I have) every evenng killing bugs, coming home from work is so enjoyable. Weekends are spent trying to clean the walls. This morning before I left for work at 4:40, I killed three in the bathroom.
Tenants tie doors open for any reason what so ever, currently my buildling has had one door tied open since mid-June, I asked the person who tied it, and he said it was due to the heat. This past winter, on some really cold days, I helped these types out, by tying open several doors, "to help with the heat." Since they do in the summer, I may as well in the winter.

I agree with it getting bad here. I wish, I would of came here at night and seen the activities before moving in. I don't use my porch. I have it permanently locked, afraid that these people are going to break in. I hate it here. to think, i have 10 months to move. I regret coming here.

Must depend on the building you're in. The only time I've seen doors tied open is for moving.
I was shown the model first, but when I asked to see vacant units they were happy to oblige.
