Thinking of living here'...Renter be ware!...

This apartment complex is a nightmare! I would recommend shopping around before even considering this over-priced, imposter of a luxury apartment.
From the start there were problems! Management couldn't decide/agree on the terms of the lease and the rules supporting this community. For example, when we first discussed staying here, we were told that short-term leases were acceptable. Well, we received a lease for a year (after we specifically said "six months"). At any rate, we went to correct this situation and the manager of this community had the audacity to tell us that they "do not offer short-term leases"! It was only after we threatened to seek legal consultation and discuss the matter with the regional manager did she suddenly agreed to the short-term (well, shorter term) lease. When we moved in, blinds in the apartment were broken/missing pieces; screens had large holes in them (which allowed ants to crawl in and surprisingly enough, a bird to fly in)! One side of the apartment was without any electricity. The kitchen faucet and the hose for the washing machine were leaking. The water in the shower ran cold after about five minutes! Also, there weren’t any lights in any of the bedrooms, nor in the living room (so prepare to bring your own).
While living at this apartment complex, we experienced terrible noise. You can hear everyone who "marches" up and down the stairs or decides to have a party. If you really have good ears, you can once in a while even hear your neighbors speaking. This; however, was not the worse of it. The apartment above us was empty for some time and finally, they decided to fix it up. Well, I pray that there aren't any third-shift workers looking to live here because sleep will become "a thing of the past". The workers came well before 9 am. They had no consideration for other possible neighbors in the unit. Voices were kept loud and movement was made very apparent. For a few days, their mess was very well evident, as the wooden pieces remained piled by our shadowed mailboxes. Of course, the workers cannot take all the blame. They were just doing their job. I feel like management at this community is the real problem. They sent out no courtesy warning or anything. Yet, if they did, it would not have been received until a day prior to the work! This seems to be an acceptable standard for them.
Finally, I would like to make note that there is an unusual amount of activity occurring at this complex. The troubling part is that the problem(s) are coming from a couple (who according to my knowledge from management) are not on the lease (just "staying"/visiting family). (Ironically enough, they have been here for several months now). I know because there have been repeated verbal fights (in the parking lot) and displays of tantrums resulting in objects being thrown (that usually miss the intended recipient and hit someone else's property). I can speak from this experience. My car was hit with a set of flying keys (thankfully, no damage resulted}. As if all of this were not enough, there also seems to be other suspicious activity going on as well. All I can say is that it is obvious, happens during the day as well as in the evening, and involves a vehicle pulling up, someone going out to meet whom ever for a brief moment, and then the vehicle pulling off before the individual returns back to the apartment. This occurs almost like "clock-work", sometimes to the point it is predictable. At any rate, the only reason I mention this is for a sense of safety and those who are thinking of renting with children.
Well, I suppose I have discussed more than they would have liked (or would ever dare to tell you). I can at least say (for their peace of mind) I did not write anything about the trash on the grounds, the mold that was growing on the corner of both tubs in our apartment (which by the way is no surprise to management), and maintenance showing up with no warning or after the agreed date. Additionally, I did not add those times we went to management to complain of these issues and the complaints were made into "laughing matters" (maybe as result of embarrassment, but either way it is inexcusable)! Sure, some of the problems were fixed (not all). However, most of these problems (in our apartment) should have been addressed prior to our moving in! I cringe every time I think of their nerve to rent an apartment that was in such terrible (and might I add unacceptable) condition!
With that said, "renter be ware!" because complaints/issues (for the most part) seem to be considered a joke! (And to think, my boyfriend and I only had a three month lease!)

Even though this was posted a few years back. Not much has changed. I got better service at Dale Forest apts and that wasn't even considered "luxury". This place is a joke. I am diligently looking for a new place to live and anxiously wait for my lease to end.
