Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I have read some of the reviews on these apartments that date back to 2004. I have lived here for almost a year. It's very interesting to read the reviews from 2004 where some people stated that it is an unsafe community. It is also intersting to read the review from 2009 (might be the one directly under this review) where the person complains about the outside being dirty and issues not being fixed in the apartments quickly.
As far as safety and cleanliness goes: I work in DC and part of my job requires me to visit some not-so-safe neighborhoods all over the District. I know what not safe is. I am just moving from a neighborhood off of Spriggs Road, which is the quietest neighborhood I have ever lived in. I also went to college in Richmond and lived on campus three of the four years I was there. I know what a bad area is and I know what a good area is. Fox Run apartments is a safe and quiet community. Across the street at Georgetown Village it is a little more rowdy and dirty. There is a reason for this. Fox Run is quiet and for the most part my neighbors keep to themselves and don't do anything annoying. I did have a problem one day with the people above me playing Rock Band or Guitar Hero video game and the guy was trying to sing the Rocky theme song (Eye of the Tiger) and it was so annoying I went upstairs and asked him to quiet it down a little. He did and ever since then the only complaints in terms of noise and safety would have to be just a few people pumping their car stereos loud as they enter or leave neighborhood and a motorcycle getting stolen earlier this year. Other than that I see no problem with a family living at Fox Run and having an enjoyable experience.
Parking is ample and parking for residence-only (or their guests) is strictly enforced, which is good. Tow trucks come throught the neighborhood on a regular basis at night to tow violators.
The pool is nice, but the gym is too small. I go to the pool a lot and for the most part there are only a few people there. The staff overall are nice and informative, but one of the younger office workers sometimes doesn't know what she's talking about and is very forgetful.
Maintenance is very quick to fix things and they get the job done the first time, from my experience. I've had to call for minor and semi-major things ranging from replacement blinds, clogged drains, to hot water heater dying. Everything was fixed quickly and to date I have not been charged for anything. Yes, they ride around on golf carts, but I would assume that is because there is no need to ride a truck around the neighborhood all day on maintenance calls. Golf cart is electric and silent, so I thank management for going that route.
The walls are thick enough where you shouldn't hear your neighbors, unless they are just tryign their best to be heard. Like almost all apartments you can hear your upstairs neighbors if they are jumping or running, as the ceilings aren't as thick as the walls. I've only had one problem (mentioned earlier in this review)
I've never seen dogs walked without a leash and only small dogs are allowed. Most of the people in the neighborhood keep to themselves from what I've seen and there is minimal loitering. The most you'll see is people outside smoking occasionally. Currently there is a Prince William County police officer who lives in the complex and the police station is less than two miles north. There is a fire station being built two miles south. Interstate 95 is about three miles away, which is excellent if you commute to and from DC for work.
I'd recommend this to anyone. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
