As with any apartment complex there are good and bad points. Overall this is a nice place to live. It's generally quiet and out of the way. As I write this, I've lived here about 4 months.
The employees are courteous and responsive. Maintenance complaints are taken car of by the next day if parts do not need to be ordered. Employees leave a notice the day before if they need to enter your aparmtnent for any reason. The rental company regularly sends out a survey to gauge your experience. The office also accepts UPS and FedEx boxes if they're a reasonable size.
There is a car wash area available. The hose is a little short and leaks, but it's better than paying for a wash. It's only available during the summer though. If you need one any other time than residents can use the one at Windsor Park just 1/3 mile down the street.
Springwoods advertises a fitness room. This is in fact located at Windsor Park. It has a bike, treadmill, some weights and a TV. It's adequate, but nothing special.
There is a community pool on the premesis, but residents can also use the Lake Ridge pool which is good size and right across the street.
For the most part this complex has a family atmosphere. I moved down from North Jersey and after living there a bit, it's a bit of a shock to have people say "Hi" to you. My neighbors are quiet and courteous and there's an elementry school across the street.
The complex grounds are well taken care of. Lake Ridge community association is pretty strict in this regard and keeps a tight reign on apartment complexes in the area. Trash is emptied 3 times each week.
The good definitley outweighs the bad, but no complex is perfect. Here are a few things I've noticed. The walls seem to be a little thin. Raised voices will carry through, though you can't tell exactly what's being said. I've had a problem with the outlets. Chords don't seem to want to stay plugged in. Apparently it's an easy fix and maintenance can take care of it quickly. The faucets are a little old. Also, on more than one occasion I've been to the office and there is no representative there. The door is locked and a sign up stating they'll be back in an hour. I suspect they're showing a prospective resident around, but it's a little annoying.
Again, overall this is a good place to live and I'd recommend it to friends. If you're interested, make sure you check out Windsor Park as it's all but next door. It has similar layouts and the ammenities are a little better. The outside of the apartmens at Windsor Park have just been repainted too. I'd have moved in there, but they didn't have the layout I wanted available. Both communities are managed by Aimco, a national company.
