The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

From: -Anonymous-

THE GOOD: The neighborhood is nice and quiet, except for the occasional sound of cars driving by at high speeds with screeching tires. Great for roommates-- the split-style floor plan is perfect. Spacious balcony and nice wood-burning fireplace and bay window, if you happen to get one of those apartments. The accent wall program is nice, and could be better if they hired actual painters (see "The Ugly" below).

THE BAD: The carpet was very worn when we moved in and we had to request to have it replaced. The walls and floors are thin-- you can hear (and feel) every step your neighbor takes, as well as the murmur of voices or other sounds. Rent is due on the 1st and ONLY the 1st...otherwise you will be charged a 10% late fee. The appliances are VERY outdated. When I made a comment to someone in the leasing office, they said that the appliances were "no older than 1982-1985". As a 23-year old woman, you can imagine how this sounds to me. We had to constantly nag them for a new washing machine, and when it got replaced, it obviously wasn't a new model. The cabinets look YEARS old. Parking is pretty bad if you get home too late--you sometimes have to walk a distance to get to your own building. They definitely need more maintenance staff...they used to be very quick and helpful responding to requests, but lately we've had to constantly call the office to remind them of our problems. You have to put in a two-month notice, instead of the usual one month.

THE UGLY: The office staff is RUDE! On occasion it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them to answer the phone, and when you walk in the office, they give you a "what do you want'" look. Occasionally you'll get a helpful staff member, but good luck! I don't like the way they hold packages for residents. They keep all packages in a closet and allow you to go in and get the package yourself-- this makes it very easy for someone to steal your package. I don't know who taught these people to paint...it looks like a child's job. It's clear that there are layers of old, dull paint that were done with no care. You can see paint on the appliances and cabinets because of carelessness. We are convinced they use spraypaint instead of actual paint (which explains the messy paint jobs). When we first moved in, our counters weren't "glazed" (which seems like a mere spraypaint job on the counters). When they finally took care of it, our apartment smelled of spraypaint and aeresol for two days. We had to leave the apartment because we started to feel lightheaded.

In conclusion, Springwoods is a nice transition community, and nothing more...we won't be renewing our lease. It's not worth the rent (which seems a little high for what they offer) for more than the 12-month initial term. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
