When we moved in two years ago, the decision factors were price, nice staff, nice location, and OK apartment (it fit our needs). During the first year, we had no problems at all. Things have started sliding downhill however. I would not recommend this place based on current behavior.
Winter 2005 - Several times after a snow, maintenance/grounds crew did not salt the side walks or under the carports. I ended up falling down on sidewalk or asphalt several times on the way to my car due to the ice accumulation.
Early Spring 2006 - A washing machine from an upstairs apartment starting leaking water. It damaged the apartments below (including my own). Maintenance was prompt in coming to fix the fix while it was occurring...and they checked with us to see what the damage was. The wall above the kitchen bar was seeping water pretty bad and a big crack had formed...I pointed it out to the guy, he jotted it down and said someone would be by to patch it up once the water stopped seeping. It's now October, there's been no repair to the wall.
Spring 2006 - I received a notice on my door that I had failed to pay rent...this was crazy because I usually pay for it a week early (am somewhat ---- retentive). I find out a month later that the idiots in the office MAILED my envelope with rent check in it. I refused to pay the late fee and gave them a copy of the letter USPS sent me (they couldn't deliver because the envelope had no address on it, so they sent me a copy of the check and destroyed the check).
Summer 2006 - I noticed that paint or some sort of covering around the master bathrub's water overflow piece was flaking off, revealing significant rust and rust holes on the tub. I sent two requests to maintenance: phone message and via aimco's email system. They have still yet to repair it. We've phoned the office several times on it, I'm sick of trying to get it repaired.
Late August 2006 - Noticed the carpet near the utility closet was wet/damp in spots. I figured this was a problem with the AC so I shut it off immediately and phoned for maintenance (late at night, so no one was in the office). It took them one FULL week to respond to fix the problem. During that time I had phoned at least 3 times, sent in another 2 requests to aimco's website and finally issued a certified letter to them since the wet/dampness was not going away and was going to cause severe mold and carpet damage.
I had also listed the wall crack and tub problem in the certified letter. I also had to notify Resident Relations at AIMCO to let them know that I haven't been helped or notified that help is on the way. To this day, they have only repaired the AC issue (and haven't done squat to the carpet, it smells moldy now).
We're closing on a house next week, thank god. I'm so tired of living in this pit.
As for the other "features" of this complex:
- The walls, as others have mentioned, are indeed paper thin. My upstairs neighbors have kids and I can hear every frolic, every tantrum, every "yell at the kids fest" from them. The walls often shake so bad from footsteps that my pictures have fallen off the walls.
- The appliances and fixtures are extremely old. I have the same problem as another poster with the outlets, only since I can't ever get maintenance, I never bothered to report it.
- Getting into the office closet for packages is way too damn easy. I've never been stopped (particularly by new office folk I've never seen) to verify who I am.
- They often close the office during the day to take out prospective renters. There really needs to be more than 1 person at the office.
I have a feeling that they're just ignoring me now since we've sent them lease termination notice due to buying our new home...but I believe you still need to maintain a professional attitude towards your customers, regardless of how much longer you'll have them.

I had the same problem with the shaking walls and two floods do to the AC unit which was never repaired. I to have moved out. And also contacted Aimco directly and never recieved a response! I agree the attitude of the employees lack professionalism. What a dump!
