A First-Class Dump...

My girlfriend moved into Potomac Vista in March and from Day 1, it has been nothing but a total nightmare. Just like everybody else's post, there's water damage everywhere, the carpet is dirty, the hallways smell like @ss, maintenence is a complete joke and the office staff are incompetent liars. She too was seduced by the nice model apartment that they show you and lured in by the low price. Since mid march, the toliet has been replaced and it still doesn't work right, the stove has been fixed, the carpet has been re-cleaned and it still looks like crap, and a re-occuring mysterious leak from upstairs has been fixed twice.

The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything and the ceiling sounds like it's about to fall down. The people's bed upstairs sounds like it's about to come crashing through the ceiling whenever they decide to have sex at 2:00am in the morning, not to mention they have huge dogs that sound like a herd of buffalo stampeding every night. If you're reading this, don't make the mistake she did. Run as far and as fast away from this place as you can. It's not worth it.

That's a bunch of nonsense. I don't see why she would have such a bad experience when the staff and maintenance have been rushing to get everything fixed that has been wrong with my place since I moved in, considering I'm just another tenant as well. The maintenance staff have been VERY nice to me and done the job professionally and fixed things right. Never had any trouble other than the flooding from upstairs due to a burst pipe.

The walls here are NOT paper thin. Actually the walls are fairly well insulated by apartment standards. Sure, I can occasionally hear the neighbors argue but there've been no problems with loud music or anything. The last place I lived you definitely could hear everything through the walls - children running, normal-level music, TVs, etc. The walls here are A OK by any apartment standards.

Besides, if maintenance and the staff are such a problem, why don't you call or email their higher up managers and get things taken care of? Or if things aren't getting fixed, contact your renter's insurance people and get it fixed that way. Don't just sit there, whine, and expect it to get taken care of it you don't let anyone know it's broken!

Hey BDMhistory,

I don't know who's paying you from Potomac Vista, but you are being way too nice. I live at Potomac Vista and have gone to the higher ups. THEY LIE!!! Renter's insurance doesn't cover repairs either. Fire, flood, theft, and medical expenses. Open your eyes and be realistic. It should be one call and it get's fixed that same day. There are only around 500 apartments and they don't all break at the same time. Potomac Vista hires the wrong people. You hire $8/hour workers you get crappy $8/hour work. Period. Hire professionals.

Buoyboy -

Why do you assume someone is paying BDMhistory? I've lived here for a year and I don't have any problems with the property. Every maintenance issue I've had has been fixed. The work was done well and the staff are friendly.

And I don't know what renter's insurance you have, but mine covers fire and flood damage, theft, and medical expenses.

armyrecruiter,

This is buoyboy signed under a new screen name. If you've had good experiences with maintinence, then you must speak Spanish. The race card better not be played either because my wife is Cuban and speaks fluent Spanish. However, she refuses to speak it because this is America. The INS needs to come and check some Visa's on this property.

Also, thanks for stating the obvious. I think I also mentioned that Insurance covers fire, flood, theft, and medical. They don't cover mold in the wall, or appliances that aren't yours!! Tell me what kind of Insurance you have that will take care of this; I'd love to get it.
