Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I HATE this place! I lived there for 14 months and liked about 6 days of it. First off, the management is great at first. I saw a one bedroom that was updated and had lovely fixtures nice carpet etc... The actual apartment was a flashback to the 70's. EVERY appliance was old and outdated and EVERYONE of them had some function that did not work. I complained about everything and after complaining not only to the local office but also the Windsor headquarters. I was finally taken "care of" after having a lawyer friend call them. They ended up replacing my stove (oven did not work), my fridge ( Freezer did not freeze and I wont even talk about the smell), My washer/dryer (did not work at all), and finally my garbage disposal that had food from the former tenant stuck inside which of course backed up my sink.
All of these items were eventually replaced after 6 MONTHS!!! I lived w/o all of those appliances from my first day to six months after I moved in. When they finally agreed to replace everything they did not bother to schedule an appointment, they just showed up and then refused to enter the apartment because my dog was loose. I was at work and had no idea they were replacing anything that day as they did not contact me. I got home from work to find a note informing me that my dog prevented the installation of my new appliances and that I could call next week to reschedule.... OMG!!!! To say that I had some words with the staff would be an understatement.
The noise level were average, yes I heard the people above me but, I have never lived in any apartment that I didn't have some noise. The biggest problem with noise came from the section 8 apartments directly in front of Potomac Vista. The loud music, car alarms, fights and constant police sirens. I heard gunshots several times and NEVER left my apartment after dark without my dog. My neighbors had their car broken into and radio stolen and several other vehicles were vandalized. Management stated that in our lease they were not responsible for private property (basically they don't give a sh!).
I trained canines for the Va state police and had taught my dog drug sniffing and without fail EVERY single time I took him out he would hit on several cars, apartments and even a brick wall used for landscaping (I found several joints there)
I informed the office and local police. I was told by the office to not call the authorities with trivial complaints. That about sums up the management!
The worst is that I told them after my year lease was up that I would not be renewing however, due to all the six months of major issues the home office gave me a two month free stay. So, I took my time moving (2 months). After moving and buying a home about year later I tried to refinance and was turned down because of credit issues. It turns out that Potomac Vista charged me for the "free" two months and posted as a judgement on my credit report. It as been over 2 years now and I am still fighting them!!! LIARS!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!
