I've been here for a number of years and find the place to be good. It has it's quirks and need improvements, but it's been a comfortable living spot. For the most part it's quiet and the location (close to Hampton and Newport News) is a good setting with a great school system, is close to shopping and other important areas. The staff has been good, but they did get a new set in during my tenure there. The new ladies try to blow air up my butt on some things, but they get done what I need to be done (and remain nice about it). The bug problems mentioned on some of the other comments are not my experience. At particular times of the year or when it rains, you may see the large waterbug roaches or spiders. The community is nestled in the middle of pine trees and such, so it's to be expected. (I believe the bug problem is real as my daughter spoke to the ladies at the bus stop about these issues.) I've seen many people move in and out with short stays, so I feel there are some major problems going on in the community. When I switched to a larger apartment, they rushed the move, so some patch work could still be seen years later. The walls can be thin (use to hear one neighbor's kid crying everynight about 2am and, if someone smokes in that bedroom, I smell it). With acception of some of the workmanship, the apartment has been home. I suggest that you check and be direct in what you request. Let them know that you know of the issues and get reassured that you don't end up in the building with the bugs.
