Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I moved into 989 Elements in June of 2006. It was a brand new building and I was very happy with it because it was the only rental available at the time that had air conditioning. My experience quickly became a nightmare. My cars paint was almost destroyed. Large amounts of construction dust that would come through the giant holes connected to the parking garage under the same developers huge construction project next door (it was a field when I moved in.) I recieved no help from the management who said I was lucky to have a place to park in Downtown Bellevue. I would agree if I wasn't paying $100 a month. The apartment was fine except for the cheap construction and the fact that the inferior HVAC system would make it constantly humid inside. The public spaces of the building were dingy and the first floor lobby has some type of mold problem and a very foul smell. The bottom line is that the developer has built these buildings as cheap as he could. The management does a good job of putting on a show when you come in the first time but they couldn't care less and don't expect any help when you have a problem. There's an overall feel that the money is just collected and that's it, no one involved has a vision of making it into a great community which in my opinion is kind of sad. I'm not angry about the situation because the building served my needs for the time but I should warn you that it is a depressing and disappointing environment to live in. There are a lot of new apartment buildings that have opened/will be opening in the next few months in downtown Bellevue. Take a look at the number of other options that are available to you because I can promise you that you will be much happier with a different choice. Good Luck!
