Insane Utility Bills, Crazy Move-Out Charges, Stinky Smells in the Hallway

Although this apartment complex is nice with nice amenities (resident events, fitness facility, free food occasionally), you end up paying for it with all the high bills and charges you end up incurring. Our montly water bill has been $160, and the leasing agent told us it would be $50 a month. Our electric bill is normal around $30. When we moved out, they decided to charge us a $50 carpet cleaning fee even though we didn't own any pets, and I wore slippers while I was in the apt. They wanted it professionally cleaned so I was okay with. Then, they decided to charge us $75 cleaning fee because they said our closet racks were dirty, the toilet paper holder was dirty, and the refrigerator was dirty. First of all, it was probably dusty. We only had put our clothes on the closet racks so the only thing that would have gotten it dirty was dust. We cleaned and bleached the refrigerator when we left so I have no idea how it could have been dirty. And the toilet paper holder being dirty, probably dust as well. They overcharge you for everything and they nickle and dime you for everything so unless you don't mind this, DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
I've lived in a number of apartment complexes, and this one was the most costly and the most dishonest. I would not recommend renting out their sister apartment, Elements Too that is being built next to 989 Elements. They are probably overcharging the tenants for everything so they can pay for the construction and development of their sister project.
Management is horrible! Do not trust a word that they tell you because they seem to lie all the time. The concierge, Todd, is very nice though. However, they seem to have a high turn-over rate for the concierges. When I first moved in, they had 2 concierges. By the time I left, 3-4 of them had left. Now, it's just Todd running the concierge service.
Trust me, you will regret it renting from 989 Elements due to all the money they will be sucking out of your pockets. Do not be fooled by the exterior and the amenities that they offer. It's not worth it. It's best to look elsewhere.

All of this is true -- a more dishonest and money-hungry group of people you are unlikely to meet anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. Truly unbelievable how bad 989 is. I lived there for a year and -- after experiencing stuff like the reviewer above notes -- I got the heck out of there. I still live in downtown Bellevue, but am now much happier with the place I live at.
