Beware of noise, but great in all other respects

We've been living at Main Place for about a year now, and there is a lot to like here. The building is clean, beautiful and new, and it's a great location in downtown Bellevue, away from the bustle but still in the middle of great shops and restaurants, and within a few minutes' walk of the downtown park. The finishes inside the apartment are very nice, and while the stain-proof carpet hasn't proven to be so hardy, we haven't had any maintanence issues. It's really a beautiful apartment and gives us good space, if for a top-dollar price. The staff is always pleasant to deal with and is on the ball with giving notices, for example for loud construction projects nearby and in the building. During our stay here the downstairs restaurant tenant moved out and another moved in, commencing a complete remodel that was very loud during the day (I work from home) and very occasionally at night. It went on a few months longer than expected (supposed to be finished in September and was finished in January), which was frustrating, especially since spaces in our already small parking garage were blocked off and a couple of days we had to shut off the water for several hours at a time. Noise from upstairs neighbors, who sound like they're constantly hosting a frat party, has also been an issue (and before them the previous tenants were very showy with their late-night rendezvous, but that stopped after a call to the management). The unfortunate thing is that bedrooms in the apartments are next to and on top of one another, making it hard to get away from that sort of thing. We ended up moving our bedroom to the den across the apartment, which doesn't even have a closet or a window, so we could get better rest at night (and that really worked). Ultimately we've enjoyed living here with the great location and nice, new finishes--plus the convenience of having two bathrooms--but we'll be moving out this spring as we're expecting a baby and know we can get more space for less money elsewhere. I would recommend this apartment to anyone willing to spend a little more for a great location and nice, new (2-3 years old) accommodations. Oh, and I'd like to add that it's very safe. Because there is retail space on the first floor, during business hours the front and back doors are accessible. After hours you'll need a key FOB. But the extra security precautions always in place are that you need a key FOB to use the elevator, and also to get into each residential floor. This is a bit tricky when you have friends come over, because while they can use the call box to get into the building after hours, you still have to go down the hall to let them into your floor. But I appreciate the extra level of security.
