Not Impressed Overall, Will Move

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I've lived here going on one year now. I echo many of the dissatisfied sentiments listed in other reviews. The apartments are laid out nicely and provide adequate storage and square footage and are reasonably centrally located to entertainment, retail shops, highways and various ammenities. On the flipside, the appliances are older and while each unit has it's own laundry it is located outside on the patio. This isn't so bad in the warmer months, but not optimal in the winter months. The break-in's that I am aware of are specifically the *locked* mailroom, which the staff seemed nonplussed about. When I asked what management intended to do about securing it going forward they had no answer and it took them a full day to ring me and inform me that my mailbox had been compromised in the first place. Aside from items also being stolen from my patio I have only heard mention of car break-in's however, I make sure to lock my car and remove valuables when leaving it parked overnight as the light bulbs are often burnt out in the parking areas and along the walkways. I make sure to lock up my apartment securely even if just going on errands and am often concerned about future break-in's. Bulb flickering and burnouts are common I've observed. As I previously mentioned the layout of the apartment is adequate and provides more sq. footage than most I looked at but it comes with the cost of poor insulation between units and being able to hear even the most intimate details of your neighbors daily lives. I realize apartment living isn't without it's noises, but this is quite more than I wanted to hear and for me is the most uncomfortable thing to have to deal with (We're not talking loud stereos here). The older wooden construction of the buildings lends itself to awful floor creakiness amplifying movement and footsteps of upstairs neighbors quite loudly for those living beneath. Management is finally getting around to painting the exteriors after a year of saying it would happen, so that will be a superficial improvement. With rent only going up here I am confident I can upgrade and stay in the same price range. Even paying a bit more at a new place for peace of mind will be worth it. I would recommend living elsewhere.
