I lived in Emerald Ridge Apts. two times, each time for one year. I miss my friendly neighbors, pleasant staff and beautiful pathway(s) across the street.
I was always amazed at how clean the grounds were kept, as it is pet friendly. The people, both tenants and staff, were a pleasure.
That is not to say that there were not a few jerks living there, but really where aren't there a few jerks' Working with the public as I do it is my experience that the bitter person is the one to raise their voice, rather than the content, hence the posts you have found here. Of course there are legit concerns on an individual basis, but I would not let the rantings of a few keep you from what should be a very comfortable experience.
The only problem I had with Emerald Ridge was the lack of parking, not just for visitors, but for actual tenants.
By the way, for those making the ghetto comments, a 'ghetto' is an area that is characterized by having one overwhelming ethnic group that share a low level of income. That does not mean the area is dirty or unsafe. Perhaps you are thinking of a 'slum', which Emerald Ridge is definitely not. How many slums are adjacent to open meadows, fields of blueberries, winding waterways and the shore of Lake Washington' No, the area is far from the image of negativity mentioned in some postings.
