Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I moved into Emerald Ridge because my company transferred me and I needed to quickly find a place that accepted dogs and was close to work. I wish I had known about this website when I was looking for a place to live.
Emerald Ridge is just a terrible awful place to live. There are multiple reasons I would say this. The noise problem would top the list. I constantly was bombarded with noise from neighbors on both sides of me, upstairs neighbors and downstairs neighbors (I had a second floor apt). The noise is usually relentless and literally drove me nuts. I heard everything from television, stereo to yelling arguments and more intimate moments. I've lived in apartments for most of the past ten years. I realize that apartment living will mean tolerating some noise, but this is above and beyond anything I have ever encountered. This place is so poorly constructed that little separates you from your neighbors. There's also noise from the outside. You WILL lose sleep on the weekend. There's this group of younger guys who all seem to own souped-up Honda Civics who race around the parking lot at 3am every weekend. Since apartment Security is not local, there is nobody here to monitor the activities on the complex at night.
The apartment I rented was not the apartment I was initially shown. The apartment I was shown was a third floor apartment and was a end-unit. It was much brighter with direct sun light. The place I GOT was stuck between several apartments and I felt like I lived in the Bat-Cave.
Parking is non-existent. I actually asked about the parking situation before I moved in. I was told there was "ample" parking. I guess they include the parking lot in the rear of Safeway at Factoria......
Because I came from another state, I didn't know what the going prices for rent in the Bellevue area actually were. Now that I've lived here awhile, I am angry that I pay around $1000/mo when my friends pay that much for huge condos or just a little more for an actual house.
The office staff are constantly changing, but all have one thing in common...they don't like their jobs and they don't like the tenants. We're all one big nuisance to them, and it's easy to tell. The apt manager is simply unbelievably nasty and uncaring. I strongly suggest avoiding her at all costs.
The amenities are laughable. The gym alone will crack you up when you see it. The hot tub is constantly being repaired.
I'm not some disgruntled tenant who wants to "get even" with Emerald Ridge. My concerns and complaints are very real and shared by most of the people I have met at Emerald Ridge. If you move into Emerald Ridge despite the warnings, you have nobody to blame but yourself.
