I agree with most of what the previous poster said. The management is really friendly and the manager of the building seems to be willing to accomodate to you as much as possible.
And once the initial excitement of moving to a new building/apartment wears off, the unnecessary doors can be REALLY annoying after a while. I haven't had the head-ache problems because I never turn on the heater. But interestingly enough I had that same problem while staying at my previous apartment so before I moved into Excalibur I had already bought a stand-alone heater and air purifier from Costco (I think together they cost me about $200).
Another thing that REALLY bothers me is the false fire-alarm. I've been staying at Excalibur for 6 months now, and tonight we just had the 7th false fire alarm since moving in (7 times as far as I know, not sure how many more times it happened while I wasn't in my apartment). Many times it happened at about 10pm12pm. You've already taken your shower and put on your pajamas and all of a sudden the siren goes off and you wonder if you should get out of the building or if it's another false alarm. Apparently there are MANY idiots that keep smoking in some common areas inside of the building. What's ironic is just this morning we all got letters from the management saying NOT to smoke anywhere in the building because it's going to cause fire alarms, and tonight some idiot had to test if it was true.
The apartment unit itself is nice. I like the birch wood doors and closet doors. I got to hear my neighbor above me walking and taking shower and flushing his/her toilet everyday but I'm guessing this happens at every apartment anywhere. What I can't stand is my neighbor's dog that seems to be barking 24 hours a day.
Dryer/washer units are an extra $50/month; they do have laundry rooms located on 2nd and 4th floor, but again it's such an hassle because you have to carry your laundry basket and push through MANY UNNECESSARY DOORS. The fitness center might as well be non-existent; the room is tiny and dark inside and I doubt once someone gets in there he/she would still have the energy/enthusiasm to work out hard.
You get 1 parking spot for free. Rents are pretty cheap IMO. Like the previous poster said, you get used to the road noise after a while. I first saw the pictures of Excalibur on rent.com and thought it was a beautiful building. The building was brand new at the time (summer '04). But in my opinion "Epic" (company that owns the building) dropped the ball and turned what could've been great into something below average.
Overall, I would only recommend this apartment if you don't wanna spend much money and if you don't mind having stupid neighbors and the hassle of pushing through many unnecessary doors.

I inquired about living there just yesterday and the w/d additional monthly cost is only $40. Just wanted to clarify.
