Not too shabby...

I moved into Excalibur about a month after they opened. Sure, there were problems, it was a new building. That's why we signed a construction waiver.
I'll admit the fire alarms were a bit annoying, but there wasn't much to be done about it. You have these kinks with a new building. Haven't had a problem with the alarms in quite sometime.
At first there were plenty of parking spots, as the building filled, they were becoming increasingly scarce. People were a bit rude and took two spots for a compact car. I know they ticketed a few for that to try and combat the problem. I'd say 9/10 times I'd get the space or a space within the general vicinity of what I liked. Rarely did I have to park in the back.
I think I was a lucky one, looking at the previous reviews. I'm assuming they had an apartment facing the courtyard. Looked at those apartments, didn't like the fact I didn't have a view, so I went with a 1-bed and had a decent view of 405 and Redmond. Being so close to the freeway, you'd expect more noise, but it wasn't bad. Windows shut, you couldn't hear a thing.
I had a few problems with the apartment, such as the sensitive fire alarm (that was quickly replaced), and an unfortunate incident with a backed up toilet (I swear, it wasn't my fault)...I was lucky to catch the maintenance guy before he left for the day, and it did take some time, but he stuck with it and got it fixed...that was disturbing though.. Needless to say, they are quick to fix what's wrong, and they'll see it through till the end.
The construction of the building isn't the world's greatest...but that's what you get in these times. You may hear your neighbor stomping around, or their dog barking. Basic rule of thumb, if you have a problem, don't sit and stew about it, go knock on their door and be polite about it...or have one of the friendly managers send a note for you.
Speaking of the staff...Ah, where to begin. I almost rented at their sister property, Sir Galahad...happy I didn't. Sir Galahad's manager was a bit rude, and dismissive. Gave me the impression I wasn't wanted. Now, when I went to Excalibur, I was welcomed with open arms. They went out of their way to fit me into the appropriate apartment. I'd say after three different apartments, I found the one I was in, and stayed there till I left. I'd probably still be there, but...alas, work calls.
The staff at Excalibur were great. They'd leave notes for you saying you had a package, and if you couldn't make it, they'd deliver it for you (with your approval). Always friendly to talk to, and ready to help. They always tried to make your life easier...Helpful and courteous. I'd say that's one of the main reasons I rented here.
I did a lot of comparison shopping before renting, and Excalibur was the most reasonable for what you got. Remember though, you get what you pay for. It's not like the Avalon, where you pay over a grand for a one bedroom...and you get that awesome workout facility. You get a modest apartment, for a great price at Excalibur.
I'd say if you're looking to stretch your $$, this would be the place to be. If money is no object, there are definitely better places, but be prepared to pay for them.
