Getting better.....

Last year, I wrote about the destruction (read - taking down) of the beautiful trees in the middle courtyard, and while I still miss the trees, I have to admit everything is starting to look better. The courtyard now has a walkway through it, and it's clean. They're planting all sorts of shurbs, flowers and trees.
What I really wanted to share is that all the units are being renovated. They're not renewing anyone's leases as they come up, but they will move an existing tenant over to another unit (at a higher rent, of course). Their deposit moves with them, so while it's not great to be paying more rent, you will now get an updated apartment - new carpets, appliances, flooring, etc. Even the fireplaces are being redone so that now they'll have mantles.
I had thought they were prepping the units so that once they were all done, they'd convert to condos, but I now understand that not to the case, at least for a handful of years.
So, when our lease is up, we plan to stay. Yes, it's more money, but rents up everywhere, and it is a wonderful location, with shops nearby, and it's pretty quiet. Parking's a headache, but that's really my only complaint (although, I still miss my trees :o)
