Evaluate your options before signing up the lease

The main reason I chose this place because it is a really convenient location. The agent(Gabriella) was really nice and that gave me certain amount of confidence that overall management would be nice. I did read the review on this site ( aparmentratings.com) and thought there will always be disguntled residents who will have problems and did not care much.

I still like this location. However, getting any maintenance request done in the timely manner is a horrible job. When ever I show up in the rental house for any requests, I am greeted as if some trouble has arrived. Some of the office staffs are rude and would say that have zero experience in customer service. (In my experience, some of them are nice though, but they probabaly don't have enough power to help you out). My patio light was out and kitchen light was out. We requested two weeks back and it took me 5 follow-ups (4 phone calls and one personal visit) to get the kitchen light fixed. As of this writing, the patio light was still out. Six months back also patio light was out, and it took the managment more than three weeks to fix it. Not to mention that its dangerous to go out in the dark(I almost fell twice going down the stairs). There are more stories of maitenance problems (roof leaking, cold water in the bathroom), which were eventually fixed after several follow-ups. I have lived in US for 8 years now, and in my experience the other apartments fix the maintenance problems in a couple of days.

I talked to the manager of the apartment (Heather) and she said she gets 50 requests a week and she has only two maintenance staff. Its not possible to fix all the problem since plumbing problems take the first priority. If the light is out, its possible that it may take months to fix that. And, if I did not like the maitenance wait here, I could move out at the end of the lease.

Not to mention that this takes some emotional toll on you to stay here. You are not respected as a tenant and if you have maintenance issues, you really need to follow-up at least 5 times to get it fixed.

I agree about the utility bill increase from other posts, this increase is unjustified. I have yet to move out. and I dont know what more trouble is in store for me from the management team here...
