where do i start' when we decided we wanted to rent at the lamplighter we were excited. it was close to everything and convenience was a top priority for us. from my door to my office was 6 minutes. when we came in to sign the final documents the nice rental associate did a complete turn around. attitude-wise. when i wanted to read the lease agreement she was shocked that i had the smarts to even read it and that i had the nerve to ask questions about it. she tried scooting us out of there so fast that she kept saying, "you?ll get everything in your rental package paperwork." as if she did not have time for all the nonsense questions i?m asking her. and to just sign the paperwork. as a matter of fact, her answers to my questions were insufficient. she answered questions to what she assumed renters would ask. which had nothing to do with my questions. since she told me she was pretty knew i ignored it. i should have known better. now. now we are having so many problems. when she was showing us our unit she told us that it was wonderful that there was a fireplace in our unit. and of course, we were excited. come to find out it was only a model and a non-functional fireplace! she also showed us a new washer, dryer and dishwasher. what she forgot to mention was that the dryer took at least 3 hours to dry one load. futhermore, the water that comes from our faucet is brown. a maintenance person did try to fix that problem. and he said he fixed it. whatever "fixed it" means. it didn?t work. we knew it couldn?t be fixed. brown water was coming out of our kitchen and bathroom faucets. in fact, a member of the staff told us that the reason the water was so brown was because the piping was so old and bad that water was a backed up from the sewage overflow. well, whatever. we don?t use it. i?m thankful we order water. another incident we had was with our ceiling fan. we had it on during dinner time and for some reason or another it decided to short circuit and send sparks flying while we were eating dinner. we put in a request for the maintenance to come in to fix it. he said a wire was sticking out and the fan was cutting into it everytime it span. he said he had fixed it. well, need i say more' it wasn?t. we haven?t used that ceiling fan/light since. we also had a kitchen sink leak. we asked for the maintenance person to come in fix it. he did. however, he also informed us that he will come back and replace the base board under the sink. that was wet from the leaking faucet and is becoming moldy. well, he never came back. and good luck getting a manager to call you back. we left a message for the manager. she had one of her associates to call back. i told her that i wanted to speak to the manager. she told me she was out of the office. i told her that when she gets in to have her call me back. she never did. should i keep going' that should be enough. that is a lot of stuff to go through in a span of 4.5 months. we have a lease for a year and we are not looking to renew. there were a couple of times when we wanted to break our lease, but we have to pay almost $2000.00 to do that. so we have to unfortunately put up with it. i?m so frustrated with the place that i don?t even ask them to fix anything anymore. i do keep records of everything. that includes maintenance paperwork and when or how much i pay in rent, water and sewage. we even have pictures from the initial move in that we showed to one of the associates. i was going to leave my email address for comments. however, reading from the previous comments/ratings and how even when they are not renting anymore they are still having problems. well, i just don?t want to be one of those people. i wouldn?t be surprised if they do make something up to charge me more money after i leave. and that?s fine. we?ll take them to court. i shouldn?t have been surprised at why half the units weren?t rented. maybe that?s why the place is so quiet! don?t be fooled. don?t rent at the lamplighter. they definitely understated the term lamplighter "luxury" apartments. what a joke.
