Yes, the rent is rather expensive. However, the floor plans are really unique and even ideal for 2 couples to rent out. So when you take a $2000/mo apartment and split it between 4 people, it's really only $500/mo. My boyfriend and I share a 2BR/2BA with another couple and it's perfect. We EACH have our own master suite within a 1200 sq. ft. unit, complete with a den and a large patio w/a garden area. Not to mention a gas fireplace and our own laundry ROOM in the unit.
When we first moved in, a bunch of our neighbors came to greet us. This has NEVER happened to us before... but maybe that's because we all used to live in the University District.
The location is amazing. It's only about 2 blocks away from Bell Square and the Bellevue library is right around the corner. The Bellevue transit center is also 2 blocks away, which is super convenient.
As for the staff, the apartment manager is awesome. He's very friendly and accomodating and the apartment building itself is in very good condition. The unit that we chose had minor carpet stains, but that was the only flaw of note. All of our appliances and plumbing haven't had any issues, and the garbage chute is really convenient. Unfortunately there's no recycling room, so you have to haul it down to the garage.
The only major drawback is that for the price, there's no pool or fitness center. However, the building only has about 40 or 50 units and so a gym probably isn't worthwhile for them to install. However there are a couple tennis courts 3 blocks away and the bellevue park is good for running.
Also, the parking spaces can be rather tight, but I'm pretty sure that's a common problem in this area. The building also has retail stores on the ground floor, so there's good guest parking available most of the time.
There's a bunch of construction around, but I barely notice it. I've been here for about 7 months now, and I've only been woken up by outside noise a couple times. I'm pretty sure those times were due to a leaf blower. However, it might have something to do with the location of your unit. My roommates can hear it, but their room is on the opposite end of our apartment.
Also, I think someone before me noted that there were long elevator wait times. I don't think I've ever had a problem with it, but maybe that's because the elevators in my old buildings were ancient. However, there are only 4 levels of residential units and 2 functional elevators, so I think that person's probably just impatient.
