HELLHOLE

I was shown a model unit which looked decent enough and I was in the middle of a divorce and needed immediate housing.

I took the place just to be somewhere.

The unit I moved into had the same floor plan but in no other way resembled the model unit.

The assistant manager will kill you with kindness to get you to move in so that she will get her rental commission and after that you are nothing more to her than a pain in the ---.

Because itıs in her job description she will continue to be nice to your face and in fact,

I happened to be there when she was showing one man a unit for rent and she casually flicked a roach off of the counter and continued talking to him about how wonderful the place is.

Afterwards she commented to me that she felt so bad renting the place knowing that it was roach infested.

She said she could kill the roaches but they just returned because the people in the apartment above were filthy and breeders of the roaches.

On an evening I had stopped into the office to complain about my toilet which rocks when you sit on it because the floor beneath is rotten the assistant manager proceeded to tell me all of the woes of her life.

Most pointedly, her concern that she would not make it home to her children that evening because she lives far away, had no gas in her car and no money to buy gas.

I gave her money for gas and asked her to repay me when she got paid.

The next morning she arrived to work with a bag of McDonalds and a super sized cup of coke.

The money I loaned her never got mentioned again but she has since hinted blatantly about more money woes.

I have complained about a dishwasher which has not worked since I moved in, a toilet that rocks severely, filthy grounds, noise, people parking in my allotted parking space, water so rusty that it makes for brown ice cubes, extremely low water pressure, exorbitant water bills, leaking and sweating single pain windows and sky-high electric bills due to no insulation.

The windows sweat so badly that you cannot see through them unless you squeegee them everyday.

The parking lot is used by many of the residents here as an auto shop, so count on oily shoes as you enter your apartment.

The place has been under various kinds of construction since I moved in and residents are in no way compensated for the inconvenience.

Our doors have been replaced, and then painted.

Our parking spots have been confiscated for managementıs use and we are relegated to parking far away from our units and having to walk in a scary neighborhood.
None of the ıamenitiesı are available as they are all under construction.

And if you happen to be somebody the management doesnıt like the looks of they will find a reason why you are not allowed to me.

This hasnıt happened to me personally itıs usually -------- I see it happen to.

--------- make up the majority residents here and yet management seems to hold them in contempt.

Itıs funny to them that they canıt understand Spanish speakers complaints because then they feel no responsibility for attending to them.

They also find it funny that some of the Spanish speakers canıt understand English because they can tow their cars and penalize them because they posted ınoticeı.

Many children live here and Iıve seen cars nearly miss hitting a child more than once yet speed bumps seem to constitute an expense management is not interested in.

The grounds are downright filthy! On any given day you will watch managers and maintenance people walking obliviously by the same old garbage.

They march dutifully around posting all kinds of threats on residentıs cars because they have expired tabs or are back in parked but pay no heed to their own responsibilities.

They are quick to enforce their laws against residents and nowhere to be found when it comes to catering to residents.

Police practically camp out here because the crime here is so high.

I understand from rumors, a person was even shot to death here by police.

Obvious drug sales are the norm here, loud fights and obnoxious noise is just part of the package.

If you are of such low income that youıre considering living here, you are already on the staffıs hate list.

They operate with the attitude of ıyou get what you pay forı.

The flyers and pamphlets donıt reflect that though.

Instead, they lead you to believe youıre moving into a quaint and happy little community.

Read all fine print before signing any lease at the Palisades.

Trust me, if you donıt you will be sorry.

The lease youıll be required to sign essentially waives all of your rights including a right to a jury trial should you have legal problems with the company.

The lease promises you nothing but entraps you in many ways.

If you find after seeing the true story here that you donıt like what you see, youıre plain stuck.

When you are lucky enough to move out, you will be charged for everything from marks on walls to burned out light bulbs to the point that you not only do not get your deposit back but are presented with a bill for damages over and above your deposit.

It will not be a matter of true wear and tear but of how management can avoid giving you back your deposit and get more money from you.

This place is as close to hell as I want to go.
