Everything seems fine when you first move in, but then the problems start to add up.
Apartment complex has agreements with local utility companies, so you will pay a premium for cable, water, etc.
This is an extremely diverse apartment complex, so be prepared for the smell of curry cooking in the hallways, loud latin and rapper music, and gangs in the parking lot.
Apartment walls are very thin, so you will hear everything from kids running in the hallways to the neighbor's TV.
Management increases the rent rates about 10-15% each year, and they don't give discounts for long-term renters.
The management and office staff are unprofessional and give poor customer service. As an existing renter, you will not be treated well. It may take a while to get things fixed in the apartment, or get feedback from any complaints issued.
Moving out will be a nightmare. Office staff will be vague about what it takes to get your security deposit back. Make sure to get everything in writing and ask for them to mail you the final inspection paperwork along with your final bill. You may be charged for things you shouldn't have to pay for.
