Bait-n-switch -- STAY AWAY

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
I paid the deposit at Peidmont last week, and they have since they switched the policy on me. Here is my story:
Last week, I went to Peidmont to see a 2 br 1.5 bath apartment. Jeff showed me a model apartment, and told me that the rent will be $1285 for an apartment coming available in building 1. I checked out building 1, and emailed Jeff that I did not like the location and will be glad to see if there is another available. He told me that there is another similar apartment available in bld.7 - I liked the location and paid the deposit. There was NO MENTION of change in rent, etc.
After I paid the deposit, I was asked to return in a couple days to sign the lease. When I signed the lease, Jeff was not in office. Morgan asked me to sign the least with a rent of $1305. I refused to sign because of the different terms. Morgan informed me that if I do not sign the lease, I will have to forfeit the application fees ($76) and part of the deposit ($400)!!! All this for their fault!
I spoke to Jeff again this morning, and he informed me that he agrees that he may have not informed me about the change in rent, but there is nothing he can do about it, and my options are either to sign the lease with $1305 rent or forfeit the application fees and deposit! This is just unethical!!
I am up to talk to the Piedmont manager tomorrow, but forewarning to all readers - STAY AWAY FROM PEIDMONT. I may end up staying here to save my deposit anyway, but this is it. I am not going to be a peidmont resident once my lease ends. STAY AWAY - you have been warned.
