A daily struggle

I moved into Sammamish View about a year ago and they've given me reasons to regret that on a nearly daily basis. I was relocating to the area for work and found Sammamish View because it's close to work. I signed a lease and settled a move-in date. So I'm moving to Seattle, land at the airport, very excited to drive straight to my new place.
While I'm waiting for my luggage, I get a call from the Sammamish View manager saying they're not done with my place yet and I can't move in. What'! Couldn't they have figured this out, say, before I flew out here'
I still wanted to move in, basically because I didn't have time to find another place. I managed to stay somewhere through my employer while Sammamish View got my apartment ready. Sammamish View delayed me for about another 6-8 days in total. They would say it'll be ready in 2 days but then slip, 2 more days, slip again, etc. This completely threw off all my carefully-timed move in plans -- furniture delivery, cable installation, etc.
So I finally moved in. After all that delay, it turned out they just hacked together the place anyway. The stated reason for the delay was renovations. And while things may look renovated, if you poke at them a bit they'll fall apart. Some items:
- no blinds
- washer/dryer installed incorrectly. nearly flooded my house on one occasion.
- window pane not present: creepy crawlies could sneak in
Over the first few months I moved in I had to call them out constantly to deal with some problem or another.
I'm up on a year now, and they failed to deliver some vital information regarding change of terms of my lease, which forced me into paying an extra $250/month before finding another place to live.
And you bet I'll find another place to live. Fortunately, their incompetence and their jacking up of rates has encouraged me to buy a condo. The mortgage will be just a little more than my monthly rent (after the Sammamish View increases), and I won't have to deal with Sammamish View anymore.
Also, I should mention I used apartment ratings to look at the reviews while picking this place. The reviews were good at the time. Now I'm suspicious that Sammamish View staff is writing bogus positive reviews....

So, it sounds like after the first month, you had no problems. And they were out over the next few day to fix things, then it sounds like the maintenance staff is fast to resolve issues and fix problems in the apartments. And about the 250/month, did you give your 20 day notice of moving, which is required by the State of Washington? If not, then I would suggest you read your lease and now your state laws better for your condo, or you will be hit with things you didn't know about by them as well. Also, have you thought about the fact that with the condo you will have to follow the condo rules about what you can do and have in your condo. The condo fee that you will have to pay and the fact that it is your responsibility to fix your appliances and plumbing?
On a second note, I have lived here for a year and ran into some of the same issues in the beginning. But that was a year ago and they were in the middle of remodeling the old apartments, and since then, the maintenance crew has had some changes for the better, and the remodeling is nearly complete. The maintenance crew is out to fix stuff the next day, and are very understanding. The new cabana looks great, and the exercise room is very nice. The apartments are worth the money, what with there new appliances, carpet, and countertops.
