Cheap Hole in the Wall, Great Location

When I first saw the apartment, I thought I'd found the best thing around. It was a dream compared to my college housing. Unfortunately, after the first six months I was convinced I'd made a big mistake. Perfect location, downtown Bellevue, on the 550 busline, etc. but it's obviously a fixer-upper desperately in need of fixing!
The owners, Cornell and Associates, seem to be completely uninterested in their tenants. When apartment hunting recently I visited another Cornell building, and felt like I was in the twilight zone. All of the problems in my current building existed in the other.
We've had three different building managers since I moved in, the current couple being the most concientious. Still, when my kitchen shelf collapsed, the response was "you think that's bad, you should see my kitchen!" Our bathroom has black mold growing on the walls and ceiling, despite the "ventilation fan" constantly being on. Again, no help from management. And don't even think about using your closet doors on a regular basis.
When parking was a problem because every unit was full, and many had more than one car, the owner wrote a letter to the tenants telling us to park on the street. Right, because Bellevue Way is a great place to park your car. Parking on the 45 degree incline of the parking lot is also a bit tricky.
When management decided to start charging tenants for water, sewer and garbage last year, just after we renewed our lease, we didn't think it would be that bad. After our first bill of over $100, nearly every tenant decided to move out. My lease is up at the end of May, and I'm moving out.
In short, not the ideal apartment. Look elsewhere!

Bottom line it's not Cornell who is the problem. It's the owner. He is a slum lord! It starts from the top
