Tolerable, but just barely

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2003
I lived at this place for nearly 4 years. When I first moved in it was ok, because I was just out of college and didn't have much money to spend on rent, so the price is what made me come here. The only other good quality is the location, as it's a short distance to downtown Bellevue and about 3 miles from Microsoft. Oh, and DSL and Cable internet service are available here. That was a bigger selling point when I moved in back in 1999, because not very many places had high speed access back then.
I would rate most other things about the units negatively. It's really noisy both from upstairs and side neighbors, as well as the parking lot. Forget about leaving your bedroom window open at night, unless of course you like the sound of car alarms or spanish music. There is usally ample parking, but the spots in front of my apartment are _always_ full. In fact, the same cars have been sitting in those spots for a couple of months without ever moving.
The inside of the units are pretty old, though I haven't had many problems with things breaking. I've had several plumbing problems with the bathroom sink. The maintenance guys have attempted to fix it several times, but it always recurs within a week or so of them working on it.
There are lots of thug-type people in the parking lots in the evenings and at night. I've never had a problem when it was still light out, but I never feel comfortable walking from my place to my car after it's dark. The lights in the parking lot are often broken, so this doesn't help either. This type of apartment complex attracts lower income people due to its prices, so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there are thugs around. I never leave my windows open when I'm not there, as I've heard of several residents here having break-ins where the people just took off the screen and entered through the open window.
The grass is always dead in the summer, since they don't water it. It looks pretty nice in the spring, but by the time June rolls around, it's all brown/yellow. I guess it saves them money since they don't have to mow during the summer.
Overall, I would highly recommend looking at other places, unless you can't afford something nicer. Just know what you're getting into before renting here.
