My two friends and I moved in to Woodland&Foothill commons on July 1st, 2007. Since day one we have had nothing but MAJOR issues. The first day we moved in we noticed a large snail trail across our living room carpet. The manager that walked us through the apartment on move in day said someone would come and clean it up! SICK! She said that the painters must have let it in. Which striked me as strange since it appeared not a single wall in the appartment had been painted since the last tenant lived there. Sick! There was an overwhelming smell in the appartment of Mold. My roomates and I are really allergic. The first day we were in our new "home" we noticed there where tons of moths. They sprayed but it took two months almost to get them to vacate. The mold problem persisted. My shower in the master bedroom had not been cleaned in soo soo sooo long. The tile had mildew and nasty other things on it. After requesting it be taken care of for over two weeks I went out and purchased strong cleaners to do it myself. The next night my bathroom light had water coming out of it. That night I called the "emergency" maintenance person. He lived over an hour away from the property. As least thats what he said. He encouraged me to wait till morning for him to get the water to come outta my ceiling. Then I started to notice mold on my ceiling in the bathroom. The maintenance people said it was discoloration and painted over it!!! Next my bathroom mirror had mold behind it. After three notices to them and writing a letter and faxing it to the manager and the owner of essex I got a responce. it wasnt until over a month later we finally begged them to come in. They found mold alright. It was all over the bathroom, and the ceiling. After the continious constuction, mold is still in our home. Also you could hear everything our neighbors were doing. Down to opening a cabinent. We finally had enough and demanded to be removed from our lease. This is just a horrible place to live. There were tons of other issues like the mailbox being broken... just to much to list. Never move in here, I promise you will be disappointed.

I agree. With everything! We had so many problems while living there! Luckily, our lease is over and we were lucky enough to receive a full refund. Good luck to you!

I'm sure that's what potential future tenants want to hear: it's not ACTUALLY that bad, you only THINK it's that bad!

I've lived here since February and never have I had problems. Yes I can hear the neighbors upstairs, but they stop at night, and what they dont stop I just turn on my fan and that fixes the problem. I have no problem with mold, trails, paint, or anything of the sort and the maintenance crew have been nothing but promped in they're fixing of things. I think this is being blown way out of proportion, and all apartments have problems, especially in this price range but its probly not as bad as your making it out to be.
