Overall the Belleau Woods Apartments were great. The location is great! It is close to the freeway entrance and is in the midst of our growing Bellingham. It is only a few minutes to wherever you may need to go in our beautiful area.
It was apparent that the building was assembled quickly. Many of the fixtures were crooked and there were a few window frames unpainted. We could tell that there was a person with long black hair who lived there before us, because we would walk on the 'newly cleaned' carpet, and pull up the hairs with our socks. The carpet was also still wet when we moved in. It took a few days before we could walk on the carpet with out our socks getting wet.
I always felt safe walking to my car, even at night. It was pretty well-lit. As for parking, I never really had any issues. I could always park near my building. But I have heard of others on the east side of the complex struggling with their neighbor over the limited parking.
In the fall and winter it was quiet throughout the complex, but once the nicer weather came in the spring, everyone spends more time of the patio and are just louder in general.You can hear several parties going at once late into the night. There seems that there are no quiet hours enforced.
The little maintenance we did need was fixed promptly.
The office hours made it hard to communicate. They are only open from 8-5 (or so). For many people, that is their hours too.
The rent was a bit high, but for the location, we felt it was worth it.
