If you're into quirky character, a great location and a great view, this is a very good place to call home. The walls and floors are (mostly) concrete so they're more quiet than most placed I've lived and management is responsive to noise complaints (although they allow people to play musical instruments, which can get really rather loud and ANNOYING). Parking is okay, but management is too lenient on rule breakers. Some other tenants allow their guests to park in the tenant lot when there is more-than-adequate guest parking on the street below. Parking isn't secure, but it's a nice neighborhood so I haven't had any break-ins or vandalism. One BIG complaint is that my rent was just raised for "the rising cost of maintenance". That rising cost is actually because the owners chose to renovate the building, not because they're improving the quality of the individual apartments. The rent increase is good for the owners and not for the tenants (especially after the renovation is complete and they have a beautiful building that contains overly-expensive apartments with cheap fixtures, noisy radiators and substandard appliances). Other apartments in Bellingham provide free cable, new appliances, DW, W/D & secure parking, pool, deck/patio and/or common areas and are cheaper to rent. None of that is offered here. If they're going to raise the rent, they should really provide better incentives to stay - another rent increase and a great view, great location and quirky character won't be enough to keep us here when we can get more bang for our buck somewhere else.
