Villa Bonita is a great place for your first apartment. They are much cleaner then other places around town, are affordable, and have friendly managers. Other good things: small pets are allowed, cable is included, and they're just a quick bike ride to campus. Also, my apartment has 1.5 baths (it's a two bedroom place) and washer/dryer hook-ups.

Be aware, though: These apartments are rented mostly by college students so the grounds have a tendency to be messy (broken bottles and the like), it's not too bad though. Noise isn't much of a problem, surprisingly.
