Some of the best in Bellingham!

As far as apartments in Bellingham go, this place is wonderful! The building is not new, so you may have to put up with worn carpets and older appliances. If that bothers you, this is not your place. However, if you don't mind the superficial stuff, do check this complex out! Definitely ask to tour the apartment before you move in, as there are several different layouts. They are spacious, with large, covered porches, and two bathrooms for two bedrooms. There is ample counter space in the kitchens, and the windows provide plenty of light (so your philodendrons will actually survive the winter...) The view of the Chuckanut mountains from my porch and living room, in the morning as the fog is lifting, is stunning. Also, this is a rare apartment complex where pets are allowed (deposits required for dogs/cats)! And it has a pool... Though only open in the summer, what a treat it is on a hot day!
I have found the complex to be fairly quiet, as it is a mix of families, students, and older adults there are few loud, obnoxious college parties. There is some noise from the highway and Ferry street, which is very steep- I usually sleep with the windows closed because trucks chugging up the hill at 3 am do make a lot of noise. But it's the kind of noise you'd get in any urban setting. As for maintenance, any such problems I've had have been fixed promptly by the management. The on-site landlord is very nice and helpful.
As for laundry, if your unit lacks a washer/dryer you'll probably not be satisfied with the on-site laundry facilities. I usually just take my stuff to Sehome Cleaners, which is right across the street.
Location is also great- you're right next to Sehome Village and Haggen's- so when you realize you need a grocery item at 3 am you're a 5-minute walk away. Also, it's right along many WTA bus routes, so if you lack a car (or just don't want to drive), public transit is easy to access. If you're a student, it's only about a 15-20 min. walk to campus!
As far as safety goes, I've never had a problem and feel perfectly safe even when walking home at 3 am. There have been some car break-ins in the lot, but if you take your valuables inside and lock the doors, that will help. And PLEASE, if it snows, don't try driving down Ferry Street!
My only complaint is parking- there's no guest parking and only one assigned spot per apartment (plus limited "reserved" spaces for second vehicles). Sometimes it's a tight squeeze, especially if someone takes your spot or does a horrible job of parking.
Overall, this is the best place I've lived in B'ham, and is one of the best prices you'll find for a 2-bedroom close to campus. If you've got pets, like well-lit spaces and a private porch, and don't need that sterile, brand-new-white-carpet-and-walls look, I'd recommend this complex.
