Pretty apartments, expensive charges

I lived here a year and just moved out. I loved my third floor, one bedroom apartment. It was light and quiet, and most of the time my maitenance requests were attended to in good time. On the downside, there is tremendous amount of turnover in the office staff; it seemed like there was a new person I had never met everytime time I went into the office. The other thing that was frustrating was the limited parking. There are no assigned spaces unless you pay an additional fee ($35 /mo), and the "free" parking fills up quickly in the evenings leaving the options of parking in dark and deserted corners of the complex or driving around and around hoping that someone will leave.
When my one year lease was coming up for renewal, I was sent a letter detailing that my rent would be increased $200/mo for a 12 month lease or $300/mo for a month-to-month. I was fully aware that my deposit was non-refundable, but I thought it covered "turn over costs", but I just received a bill that included charges for cleaning the carpet, touch up paint and other charges in excess of $100.00.
I can tell you that whileI found it a nice place to live overall, the extreme costs would deter me from living in an Archstone community again.
