Okay Place to Live

I've lived here for 4 years and am generally happy. The place is kept fairly nice and picked up and I haven't had too much of a problem. Like the people that have written before, I also have seen my rent increase drastically. The first year it went up about $50 and the second year it went up over $100. Now I am paying just under $40 less than the going rate for an un-remodled apartment (old countertops and cupboards, light fixtures, etc.) which I don't really think is fair.
They are very responsive to my requests for fixes, and that is one of the things I like best. I love the location as well. I did have some neighbor trouble, which they promptly addressed, however, it wasn't fixed, and I asked to be out of my lease due to the harassment. They offered to let me move, but wouldn't allow me to break my lease.
I have two big issues with this place, one being their lack of flexibility. I just purchased a house and asked if I could give a shorter amount of notice (I wasn't aware of the 60 days notice for an early termination) and they said no. I asked if they could hold my check for the early termination for a few weeks and they said no. I've lived here for 4 years, always paid my rent on time, and never recieved anything. All my other complexes I lived in I got a free month rent on resiging. All I recieved was a fee increase. And I had the same issue as the previous post... I deducted my rent $250 for the referral fee and was given an eviction notice which I did not appreciate.
The other big issue is the car prowling. I have had two cars since I've lived here and both have been vandalized. Two of my friends also lived here and both their cars were broken into. I think there needs to be better survelience, if you drive around the complex, you see a lot of plastic over the windows of cars.
Also, one other thing that some people may think is not a big deal, is the amount of times they come into your apartment. It seems like every week there was a notice on my door that they were coming in to "inspect" something. Fire alarm, water heater, deck, etc. I wasn't really sure what was in my place, but it seemed like they came over an AWFUL lot.
Overall, I've been pretty satisfied. Other than paying tons of money, I like this place. If I hadn't bought a house, I probably would have moved out after my lease was up, mostly due to the fact that the rent is getting to be outrageous. But I've been happy with most of the staff and VERY happy with the maintenance. I would recommend this complex, but just be forwarned they don't give freebees.

This person is right the maintenance staff are very nice and quick to respond to service requests (although this is in the interest of the company so not really that amazing).
As for break-ins, I had my car stolen from right outside the office/cabana. Not their fault of course, but should be mentioned.

All the issues and you still recommend this place, you must really not like your fellow man much. As for the repairs? These folk do not even look at the issues, I asked for 3 repairs (one was a safety issue) none were deal with. They just said they fixed it. The staff are just a flat out bunch of liars. I won't even go there.
