Good and Bad in this community

After heaving shopping of communities in Bothell/Mill Creek I can honestly say Archstone Northcreek is a good community compared to others in the area especially for the square footage, price, and age of the units. A majority of the residents the staff does know by name and do go out of their way to say hello to and acknowledge them. I find they conveniently do this when a potential resident is right there (to impress them and potentially get them to rent there I am sure). A few of the employees do live on site and seem to be friendly and knowledgeable of the area and the community and seem approachable even after hours if you have an emergency. The problems I have encounted will follow:
The playgrounds have graffiti on them that is not appropriate for kids to read and isnt coming off anytime soon I don't think.

Also, I advise anyone who has a carport or wants to play it safe to GET A COPY OF YOUR LEASE!! You will need this if someone parks in your carport space (which is inevitable) and you want to tow them. Plus, having a copy protects you when you move out and you want to understand what you are obligated to.

The apartments are pretty thin, especially in the kitchen I have heard my neighbor shutting his cupboards from time to time but nothing severe. During the summer when you leave the window open to get a breeze you can hear people coming and going on the sidewalk, even if you have a greenbelt facing apartment, and smell their smoke when they step out on the deck.

There are a lot of roommate types in the community and on weekends it's not uncommon to hear the sounds of music/loud voices/even firecrackers and wierd party schemes going on.

I do have to say that in regards to the management, lets remember they are a business and like any business you have to make money to STAY in business. This is a commission based job, those girls make their bread and butter by selling you on the community and renting apartments, research and be aware just as if you were buying a car at a car lot.
That being said, I have been in there many times picking up a package and had to sit and wait and, while waiting, overheard dealings going on with other residents the Assistant Manager was really going out of her way to TRY as much as possible to compromise and yet stick to the rules and make everyone happy as much as possible. I have seen this many times by not only the Asst. Mgr but also one particular Leasing Agent who has been there forever! The regular mgr I have been told is torn between this property and another Archstone that she also manages so don't expect her to be around at your bec and call because she seems to be stretched VERY thin. My apartment didnt have great or even clean fresh carpet. The bathroom smelled like a wet dog and the toilet had not been cleaned to my standards of what I expected since it had been vacant and supposedly been professionally cleaned. The tub had stains from where someone had rubber grips on the bottom of the tub and the door knob on the door kept slipping. The maintenance staff has been prompt and clean while in the apt. and they always followed up with me once they were done to make sure I was happy.

It is an apartment, not a house, so I guess I don't expect it to be quiet all the time and as for any crime, the crime that did occur which was mostly car related from what I see and know, is much better since a few problem residents have moved. All in all its a good value but I do see that management is stretched too thin and office help seems to turnover all to frequently. The main thing is get a copy of your lease and make sure they give you your Reward Coupons UPON MOVE IN because if they don't then they won't honor the coupon rewards unless you present them to them when you need it even if it was THEIR fault.

Also, the front doors are metal and shut hard/loud if you aren't careful, so don't think your neighbors are slamming them, it's just the way they are made and it took a while before I realized my neighbors weren't inconsiderate and that my door did it too. I saw that someone was complaining about the extra deadbolt on the door in another review of this property, that is a safety lock for those of you who don't know and it is not accessible on the outside as a security feature so if you lock it absolutely no one can get in (even the Fire Dept/Police Dept). Cheaper than ADT or Brinks I suppose! mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
