Updated 10/4/07 -- After having lived at Archstone for five years, I got priced out by the huge rent increases and am moving out this month. However, I will have to say that so far Archstone management has been extremely kind and helpful to me, even during my moveout when they really have nothing to gain by it. I asked the cost for replacement blinds (since some of mine are beaten up) and found their charge is less than I could go buy them for and put them up myself. I have no idea as to what moveout charges will be and will find out during the walk-through inspection. I really can no longer "recommend" Archstone to people since they are becoming widely known for massive rent hikes; but except for that I give them high marks. They fix things and keep up the property nice. Parking is a problem though... unless you get a carport (waiting list and extra $$$) there is often NO parking in my section of the complex.

We cleaned the place spotless too and got a bill for $550. The horror stories are TRUE. Of course I called them on it and they eventually backed down. It ends up being cheaper to rent a house than from this overpriced place.

All I can say is that I cleaned that place like it has never been cleaned before and was rewarded for it. :) I agree the rent is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high with skyrocketing increases... and they lost one of their best tenants because of it. But they were fair with the move-out costs.
