High crime / numerous car break ins - Poor mgt.

I was a resident for 11 months at Braewood. During my stay there, I was aware of at least 6 vehicles being broken into, one of which was my own. Another vehicle was broken into the same night as mine. When I went to discuss this with management, I asked what was being done to combat the increasing number of thefts. Their answer was that they couldn't afford to have a security company patrol the complex. I asked why they didn't warn residents about break ins when they occured, maybe put up fliers telling people to watch for suspicious activity, or try to organize a watch program. They told me they didn't want to alarm anyone so they don't tell residents about break ins when they occur. They also stated that there is a lot of traffic in and out by residents that would discourage theft and they (mgt) constantly watch the premises. I pointed out that their strategy didn't seem to be working since thefts have been ongoing. They were completely unconcerned and laughed it off.
Other reviewers pointed out the water bill scam. It is run by a third party billing company in Arkansas. The mgt gives them ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO INCLUDING YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. I discovered this when I called to inquire about my bill. They wanted me to give them my SSN and then told me they have all the info on file. It is NOT secure! I was told they are a small company and they don't need to worry about info being compromised.....ya, okay! One of my upstairs neighbors was doing laundry non-stop all night for about a month. My water bill went up during the winter, figure that one out. Billing is done by calculating what residents tell mgt when they move in as to how many people are living there and charged a percentage of the total bill times the number of occupants they stated. So, if your neighbor has her b/f over every weekend and he brings all his clothes to wash, guess who pays for it' YOU!!
Construction is average at best. Noise carries through the building. I had to deal with barking dogs, domestic squabbles, booming bass speakers and washing machines running at all hours.
Parking is a joke. I paid for my own space and that didn't help because people would park in MY space. You can't have them towed because the towing company requires mgt. to order the tow. Trying to reach them is another story.
Management went from bad to worse with the change last summer. The former manager was a snoop. She always seemed to be out on different decks of apartments scoping out the property. She would tell you all about the residents personal live whenever she talked to you. She was not in the office for more than an hour or two in the morning then again for a couple of hours in the afternoon. The office door typically has the "Will be back at" sign up in the window. Calling always gets you an answering machine. You leave a message and wait....and wait, for days. The current manager is even less available and puts in less time than the old one. I wouldn't have thought that was possible but...
Want to check out any of the claims made here' Call the King Co. Sherrifs Dept. or the Bothell Police Dept. and ask them to give you the statistics for theft reports on the property. Also, try calling the property at different times, see how often you get a live person. Belive me with only 84 units and a 90% occupancy rate, they can't be out showing property all day long. Or, if you have the time, go to the property and if you see some of the residents walking around, ask them what they think.
