Move Out Charges Unreasonable and Criminal

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005

I lived in Canyon Pointe for 2 years. On October 28, 2005, I moved out of my one bedroom apartment. After reading the postings about Canyon Pointe on this website, I became determined to leave the apartment in immaculate condition. One week before moving I began cleaning. I took down the mini blinds in the bedroom and living room and spent almost an entire day cleaning every small hole and cranny in the blinds. I used bleach on the blind stings and made sure they were sparkling white.

After moving out all my belongings on October 28, I returned to Canyon Pointe at 7:30PM and began applying a fresh coat of paint to the bathroom. In addition to the fresh coat of paint in the bathroom, I cleaned the tub, toilet and fixtures. I even cleaned inside the tank of the toilet. I took down the fan, and cleaned the blades, and the cover and the heating lamp. I cleaned out every drawer and cabinet and polished each one. I mopped the floor 3 times and applied a coat of wax. I polished the towel racks and the toilet paper holder. I used chrome polish to make sure the facets looked shiny and clean. I worked on just the bathroom until midnight. I returned early the next day on October 29. I applied a fresh coat of paint to the living room, dinning area, Kitchen, and utility room. I took every outlet cover off and cleaned it. I took down every light fixture and light bulb and insured they were clean. I moved out the washer and dryer and cleaned all sides. I even cleaned the washer hoses. When I moved out the washer I found a pair of underwear too big to be mine--evidently the washer had not been moved since I had moved in. When I finished, both appliances were spotless. I moved the refrigerator and cleaned & painted behind it. I cleaned the inside of the oven and replaced all the drip pans with new ones. I also painted behind the stove. I moved the refrigerator and made sure that every shelf, nook, and cranny was absolutely spotless. I cleaned out every cabinet and drawer and polished them with furniture polish. I finished up at midnight on October 29. I returned early on October 30 and I shampooed all the carpet. I mopped the kitchen floor 3 times and applied a fresh coat of wax. I finished up around noon on Sunday. The entire apartment had been freshly painted, cleaned and straightened.

Today on November 8 2005, there was an invoice from Canyon Pointe for $472.11. The charges are for cleaning and painting. This explains why ---- -------------, the manager, refused to do a walk through with me when I turned in the keys. She knew the whole time that this is what she was going to do to me.

The apartment was immaculate when I left. I had help from a professional painter and cleaner during my 3 day turnover at Canyon Pointe and still they tried to charge me.

I would not recommend moving here and if you live here now, get ready for a hefty bill when you leave.
