Pretty, but regrettable.

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
My husband and I rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bath townhome with a two car garage for 1.7 years. The apartment is very nice and has 9' ceilings throughout. The complex is beautiful and the landscape is well maintained. The management however, is so horrible, that we regret having moved in.
1.Our lease was a 6 month lease that would continue on a month to month basis thereafter. At lease signing, I asked if the rent could go up after the 6 months and I was told that the rent would more than likely not be raised and they hadn't been raised for over a year and a half. However, when your 6 months was up, they raised our rent $200 a month. When we complained, they told us that they always raise the rent to market value if you don't renew. We felt that their market value was too high considering the vacancy rate at the complex and the entire Seattle area. We ended up paying $1475 a month for a 1300+ sq foot apartment until we renewed our lease 8 months later.
2.For over a year, we had to listen to a kid with a new souped-up mustang rev his engine when coming and going. We talked to management because the noise permeated the entire apartment to the point where we couldn't here our TV. Even though several neighbors were upset, management did nothing and the kid, in turn, punished us for complaining by intensifying the reving.
3.Cars race out of here late at night. The last incident was so loud I woke from a dead sleep as the car squealed around a corner missing a row of apartments. The racing continued throughout the complex and the office buildings below for about 20 minutes. The complex is located in a very safe neighborhood with the exception of this.
4.Management is unwilling to enforce it's own rules and regulations. There are few visitor parking spots and the parking lots are always at 100% capacity. With this in mind, you're not allowed to park your car in the same spot for over 48 hours. Keep in mind, however, that most apartments have attached garages and drive ways long enough to accommodate at least one car. I am moving this week and needed to clear a parking spot with access to my patio door so that I can remove large items that can't fit through the front door. The parking space I need has been occupied by a resident with a garage and an empty driveway for over 3 days and counting. Management will do nothing to assist, let alone enforce their parking policy. When I called the regional office to complain, management had already talked with them and they told me that they were not willing to do anything. In fact, they lied to me and told me that if the tabs are current, they can park there as long as they'd like. This contradicts the lease agreement and the discussion I had with the property management 4 days ago.
