Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have lived in Sonoma Villero close to one year now and have only good things to say about it!! I?m not sure who the other resident is that complained about the ownership being full of grumpy and rude (or was it noisy) old men, but it is definitely NOT true!
First of all, this is a CONDO / TOWNHOME community, which means ?the ownership? are individual townhome owners. This is NOT an apartment community where every unit is managed by a single landlord, so ?the ownership? this person referrs to is only ONE townhome owner out of 240 owners.
To me, it sounds like this person was renting from an individual owner, had some personal issues with the individual he/she was renting from (a limited number of Sonoma Villero owners are allowed to rent out their townhomes from time to time), and was perhaps "lashing out" because of whatever negative experience he/she had with this one owner.
Please know that the Sonoma Villero community as a whole is NOT as this single complaint might make it out to be. I want to reiterate this point because I feel it is important: this other reviewer?s experience and comments do not accurately reflect the Sonoma Villero community. The proper channels are in place (for renters and owners alike) to handle such issues as noise, rude neighbors, trash service, landscaping, recreation facilities, etc. The condo board and other Sonoma Villero residents are, on a whole, very, VERY responsive when issues such as noise or rude neighbors do arise.
Now, off one soapbox and onto another: Sonoma Villero is a fantastic place to live. It has a large proportion of younger residents, but they are quite respectful. Likewise for the older residents. The grounds and landscaping are well-maintained. The pool and hot tub facilities are also clean and well maintained. The clubhouse is CLASSY with a capital C and easily accessible and available for private parties!!! Check out a pic of the clubhouse from the interior design firm that designed the clubhouse:

Also, the gym is the best private-condo gym I?ve used in 10 years, including equipment such as TVs & VCRs for step aerobics (or movie-watching during your workout), a heavy bag (punching bag), eliptical machine, treadmill and bikes, dumbells, and nautilus equipment.
On a whole, I?d say the Sonoma Villero community is a wonderful choice for purchase or rent. I will be living here for years to come, precisely because I?ve had such a positive experience with my home. It is accessible, right off of I-405 at the 160th street exit (a plus for those of us who commute), yet surprisingly quiet for being so close to the freeway.
All of this doesn?t even begin to touch upon the interior design of the units. The layout is phenomenal and my fiance? and I fell in love with Sonoma Villero as soon as we toured one of the townhomes! A deep garage (1-car or 2-car tandems), tall ceilings (we?re probably talking 10? here), extra bathrooms (2.5 in mine), SPACIOUS kitchens with pergo floors, durable and nice-looking berber carpet (trust me, I?m hard on carpet), a gas fireplace, lots of natural light, dual-head showers in the master bath, vaulted ceilings in the master and guest bedrooms, and designer touches on the cupboards, drawers, and doors add a degree of quality and affluence you might not initially expect from a townhome.
On the flipside, the only bothersome thing about the place that comes to mind, which is an issue in many newer communities, is the amount of guest/visitor parking available. If you?ve got a a place with a 1-car garage or a "flat" (1-foor unit), then you really only two parking spots, max. There are some visitor/guest paring spots interspersed throughout the hole complex, but I?d say that of all the non-covered, non-garage parking spots, only one-quarter to one-fifth are set aside for visitor parking, and I?ve had several family gatherings where my poor father-in-law had to park 50 or so yards away from my place.
Other than that, you really need to see for yourself. You won?t be disappointed!
