Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009

I lived at Bremerton Gardens for 6 months and could not wait to get out. The main Manager (we will call him "Chet") and his wife run the place. "Chet" is just plan rude, but not until you sign the lease.
The buildings are old so winter time is the worst in these apartments. The wood floors are nice but freezing when it is cold out and the (really old) baseboard heaters do not help (no matter what "Chet" says!) The pipes freeze frequently so I hope you like ice showers in the morning.
I had to buy some adapters for the electrical outlets so that I could use appliances and cords that were three pronged in the two pronged outlets provided. So none of my electronics were grounded against an electrical surge even with a surge protector. The only room I didn't have to get them for was the kitchen but two of those outlets didn't even work. I was told that nothing could be done for those outlets because they didn't want to mess with the old wiring....
Speaking of the kitchen, there is a lot of space except were the stove is concerned. The stove I had was very small. I could not even fit my pizza pan in it and it was about the size of a large Pizza Hut pizza. Also the stove top was compact with small burners. So if you plan to make a big meal that calls for a large pan or multiple pans you are out of luck.
Parking was a hassle. My work schedule varies and I was coming home at different times everyday so I had to hunt for parking places after 5pm. There is one main road for most of the apartment buildings and it is a one-way, downhill, street with parking on either side. If you didn't find a space to park the first time you had to go out to a side street then back to the main street to turn back into the apartment area to try again. Then if you still didn't find a spot you would have to park in the Guest parking at the top of the hill in a gravel lot that allows easy access and opportunity for someone with bad intentions.
One of the main things I look for when finding an apartment is a washer and dryer in the unit. This one time I thought I would overlook that amenity and deal with an on-site facility. Bad move on my part... Not only do you have to pay per load (I think it was about seventy-five cents to a dollar twenty-five) per machine but they are in the basement of every-other building. So if you were unlucky, like me, you had to walk out of your building (most likely in the rain, welcome to Washington..)down a few landscape stairs to go down these steep and usually slippery cement stairs into the basement that was poorly kept and unheated (not to mention creepy. These basements also kept the apartments "extra storage" which was a chicken wire fenced off area with a wood frame and door with a hole for a padlock..If someone really wanted what you had in there all they would need to get it is a pair of wire cutters. Also, the area is very poorly lit so bring a flashlight..
So, if you make it through all of that and are finally ready to move "Chet" gives you a list of things that he looks for when doing the final move-out check. The list itself was not so bad it was the lack of information provided that got me.. On this list it asks that you wax the wood floors and says that you can find the wax at either Lowes or Home Depot. No other explanation is given so I went to Lowes and bought a container of wood floor wax... Apparently there was an unmentioned specific kind of wax that was expected to be used because when "Chet" and I did the walk-through he flipped his lid saying that I didn't wax the floors correctly or with the right brand of wax... I was charged $272 because he would have to redo the entire floor. When I contested it with the apartment owners they gave me the run around, never return my calls and were just plain annoying.
I refuse to ever consider Bremerton Gardens as a place to live again, it was the worst experience I have ever had. It is not worth the small amount of money you will be saving with the lower rent prices.

Recommend reporting this to the Washington State Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. Chucky-boy and his "owners" like to use "cleaning" as an extra revenue-enhancing scheme. They will only keep getting away with it as long as we all do not report their shenanigans.

I've never had "freezing" showers in the morning even when it was 20 degrees outside. And what did you expect with hardwoods? Throw some damn area rugs down. Jeez. I don't get why people like you ----- about crap like this. You knew the laundry facilities were not close to your apartment when you signed the lease now you ----- about it like the management lied to you. Try reading the lease and Thinking before you sign. And the storage is free, so you have NO right to complain about that ----.
Here is a tip...hire a proffessional to clean your apartment...most landlords WILL try to get every penny they can from cleaning procedures...it's called a business. Or you could always ask SPECIFIC questions and require he puts it in writing, that way it's legal and binding. If you don't and he gets pissy...your fault.
