Steer clear

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
We've lived here for about a year and a half. Although the apts with views are spectacular, they are a little small and as another tenant wrote, the dishwashers don't work that well.
When our lease was renewed for another year, rent went up by $20 per month. In addition, a new manager took over about 3 months ago and we have had "unit inspections" three times in that short period of time.
As former military, we've lived in several other apartments and NEVER have had one inspection (lived in one apt. for 3 years) in that time, let alone three! There is no reason given for these "inspections," so it makes some of us wonder why they seem to be so necessary.
Many tenants are very loud (both in their apts and cars), there are lots of arguments/fights that break out, and it's not unusual for police to show up. In addition, if the ships are in you can forget about parking near your building, as there don't seem to be enough spaces.
We have a friend who lives in another building in this complex - the same building the manager lives in. Two of the three lights on the stairwells were out for almost a week, and when the one by her apt. was replaced they didn't even bother to put the cover back on, so it's just a bare bulb. It's very ugly.
The spa never seems to be open for use.
We have enjoyed our time here in that we love the area, but can't wait to get out and get our own home.
