I've lived here for almost two years now, and for the most part, it's peaceful and safe... enough. Most days are fine - people seem to go about their business without incident and leave each other alone. Unfortunately, when the sun goes down the partying begins, and when there is an incident, it's not pretty. My mother lives below me, and the guys accross the hall from her (who have only been here for four months) have already been evicted because of their noise - loud parties EVERY weekend, drunken whooping and singing, underage drinking and drugs, and for some reason, they can't close their door without slamming it as hard as possible. This kind of behavior is typical throughout the complex. And management does what they need to to resolve these issues... when they absolutely have to. We had to complain several times before ANYTHING was done about it, then our "neighbors" were given THREE "warnings" (all of which they ignored) until they were served with an eviction notice. They were supposed to be out 2 1/2 weeks ago and they're still here. Finally, they were given a 24-hr notice to vacate yesterday after we complained AGAIN. We'll see if management follows through.
Then there are the people next door on the other side who party it up any night of the week, and feel the need to hang out and make noise (at 2-3-4 in the morning of course) NOWHERE other than their bedroom, which is right on the other side of the wall from my boyfriend's and mine. I've had to move to the living room in the middle of the night on countless occasions just to get some sleep. A couple weeks ago, a friend of theirs decided to fire a gun (in to the air, but still - GUNSHOTS!) at 3 in the morning because our other noisy neighbors had pissed them off. We, and countless others living here, have children! I would think when it comes to guns, one strike and you're out. But were those people kicked out' NO!! And all management will tell us (in the interest of protecting THEM, the criminals in question) is that they "took care of it". WHAT ABOUT PROTECTING US - THE LAW-ABIDING LEGAL CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY WHO WORK FOR A LIVING'!
One thing that is great around here is security. We have a great security team. But they're only here overnight, and we have to call them alot. The rent is reasonable, utilities are good, the office staff at least makes a show of concern when there are complaints, and the grounds are fairly well-kept for the most part, but...
Trash does pile up at times; pizza delivery after dark is still an impossibility; the office never responds to voicemails; it takes maintanence 2-3 days to come over for repairs, regardless of what it is that needs fixing; my daughter is constantly complaining about bully children who's parents never disapline them; parking is atrocious; people blare their car stereos constantly.
Yes, most days are... okay. But the bad far outweighs the good. I'll be moving when my lease is up in September.
